Age of Revolution is set in an alternate world much like our own, but a world in which all scientific knowledge has been erased from humankind’s memories.
Branching out of this event, two ideals were born: one in which Scientists believe in rediscovering the forgotten knowledge, and the other in which Spell Casters believe that where Science has failed; Magic should be the governing body of the world.
These ideals inevitably clash physically and a Great War engulfs the world. One hundred years have passed and the Great War is over, but there are still sparks of violence, and violent groups have emerged from both sides.
This is where our story begins. In the first arc of the Age of Revolution series we are introduced to five uniquely talented people who have grown up in this turbulent time. Over the course of the first 7 issue run, they are brought together as a team by the World's Military to battle the forces of hatred and darkness known as 'S.C.A.R'. Their end goal? To bring an end to this era of violence and chaos once and for all.
Huw graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Film, Media and Cultural Studies in 2012, and founded Cosmic Anvil not long after that. Huw has trouble remembering his first comic book, it was either a Transformers issue that was gifted to him or a Teen Titans comic that he found at his local library, either way, his passion and intrigue for comics was born as a young wide-eyed Welsh boy, but never did he think he would make his own.
Huw is also a huge fan of manga, and if you read Age of Revolution, you can see the influence of fighter manga such as Dragon Ball. Being a 90s kid, Huw also grew up watching Pokémon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! - his first taste of anime. This would become a lifelong love and key inspiration for his work today.
Hannah graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Fine Art and Creative Writing in 2012, and it here that she also met Huw and heard about his crazy idea to start his own comic book series. Her love and education in drawing is rooted in painstakingly copying panels from her favourite Batman comics as a teenager that went on to form the basis of her own 'high-contrast' style today.
As well as working as the artist on Age of Revolution, she works as a freelance illustrator, taking on projects ranging from children's book illustrations to company logos to character concept art. When she's not at her drawing board, Hannah spends her time blogging, drinking excessive amounts of coffee, and watching kids cartoons instead of doing boring grown up things.
Jess (aka the resident “Anime N00b” at Cosmic Anvil) graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2014 with a degree in Film & Television Studies. She joined the team in April 2015 to undertake the role of sales and marketing and push Cosmic Anvil to infinity and beyond!
Jess is new to the world of all things comic book and manga, and you can follow her journey over at our blog as she experiences them for the first time in her "N00b Reviews" series.

£2,500 - Age of Revolution gets super sized!
We will print an A4 version of the volume as well as A5!

We will translate and print a version of the volume in Welsh, making Age of Revolution truly the first 'Wanga' (Welsh language Manga) series!
Risks and challenges
With any project comes risks and challenges to overcome. Whilst we are well over half way to completing the volume there is still a lot of work to be done before it is ready to be printed.
The main risk with this project is that this will be the biggest book we have made so far. Whilst we have plenty of experience producing single issues this will be a lot more time-consuming, but we are still confident that we have the ability to take on such an ambitious task.
A lot can happen between the printer and your doorstep! Misprints can occur, shipments can be lost, things can be destroyed by fire and the Royal Mail gremlins can strike again (Grrr!) The Cosmic Anvil team will do everything in their power to ensure that as little goes wrong as possible. However, if unexpected delays, setbacks, or natural disasters occur, we are prepared and ready to respond accordingly to resolve the issue at hand and of course will keep all of our backers in the know with progress updates.
