My name is Cory Godbey and I make sketchbooks.
Since 2011, each year, I've picked a theme for my personal work and created a new body of original work on that theme. I collect all the sketches, studies, and finished drawings that go in to making the new series into annual sketchbooks.
The Hidden People (2011)
- Menagerie (2012)
- Lyrebird (2013)
- Studies from the Wilder Forest (2014)
- Wanderings (2015)
The time is right to bring together my first five sketchbooks into a hardcover anthology that I've called Visions of Whence.
Going from 6" X 9" paperbacks to a 9" X 12" hardcover will allow me to showcase this work in a beautiful new way.
To achieve the larger format I've gone back to my original 600 dpi scans for all the sketchbooks to completely rebuild this new anthology from the ground up.
Each of the original five sketchbooks varied in page counts, between 40 - 60 pages.
All together, with additional pages of art for each sketchbook (including paintings not collected in the original print runs!) this hardcover will be approximately 300 pages.
This anthology will truly be the definitive edition of these books.
I hope you'll join me in seeing Visions of Whence come to life. Thank you!

Risks and challenges
All of the art is done! And even though I'm revising a few things the layouts are complete.
While I've been creating sketchbooks since 2008 (and sketchbook on a theme since 2011) this is my first hardcover collection.
I've spent about six months doing my homework and collecting printing quotes. I believe that I'm in a great position with a well recommended printer to bring this anthology to life.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
