Coros™ LINX Smart Cycling Helmet
No more earbuds! The world’s first helmet with open-ear bone conduction so cyclists can hear traffic and the environment while tuning in to music, friends, nav, & ride data.
Introducing the industry’s first cycling helmet that gives riders the freedom to SAFELY enjoy audio wirelessly from their smartphone, with no earbuds or distractions and complete awareness to vehicles and roadside hazards. With LINX, you get a high performance cycling helmet + smart remote + app, wirelessly integrated with patent pending RideAware™ precision audio to get a richer, more tuned-in experience, without compromise to safety.
LINX delivers cyclists' demands of safety and performance and digital lifestyle demands of smartphone connectivity, audio, and instant accessibility. Coros connects bikers hands/ears/eyes-free to their music, friends, bike teammates, voice navigation, and ride data (with future functionality planned) to deliver the ultimate riding experience.
Precision Bone Conduction Audio. Integrated RideAware™ open-ear bone conduction audio and a high quality microphone allows riders to seamlessly connect the LINX helmet to their smartphone for music, calls, voice navigation and voice data, and communicate with another LINX rider. Two-way audio is supported with a wind resistant microphone.
Serious Gear. Sleek high-speed low-drag aerodynamic road cycling design that is well ventilated to stay cool for long rides. LINX includes comfortable foam strip lining and a ratchet fitting system for extended wear across various head sizes and shapes. LINX smartly trades off a little weight for a lot of tech. All weather durability; water, splash, and sweat resistant (IPX5).
Smart Remote with Bike Mount. The Smart Remote allows for volume control, forward tracks, pause/play, and take calls. The compact remote has a flexible mounting system to affix to all types of handlebars and the buttons are easy to find by feel so riders can keep their eyes on the road.

Emergency Alert. The LINX smart cycling helmet includes an emergency alert system that is triggered when the G-sensor senses significant impact, which sends an alert with GPS notification to a designated person. The helmet is currently safety certified in the U.S. (CPSC) and Europe.
Warranty. One year product warranty and an industry leading crash protection and replacement program in the event of a high impact incident. Coros takes care of you and your investment.
Simple set-up. Set up is simple; charge the helmet, push ‘on’ to activate the helmet, pairing will occur with the phone, and the rider is ready to enjoy their audio. The helmet has a USB chargeable battery with 10+ hour play/talk battery life.
Coros LINX is not just a helmet, but a system that includes a high performance helmet with patent pending RideAware™ integrated audio and precision two way call/communications, Smart Remote and mount, and a downloadable iOS/Android app.
The kit includes helmet bag, USB charge cable, reflective safety decal, emergency contact label, and manual.
Colors are white, black, and orange.
Sizes: Medium (21 ¼ - 23”; 54-58 cm; 6 ¾ - 7 ¼ hat); Large (22 ½ - 24”; 57-61 cm; 7 1/8 – 7 ¾ hat)
Note: A group communication accessory will be sold separately in the future. Timing and pricing is to be determined.
Bone Conduction Audio - How does it work?
Bone conduction bypasses the eardrums so your ears remain open and unimpeded. Sound waves are converted into vibrations and delivered through your upper cheekbones. The cochlea receives the vibrations, bypassing the ear canal and ear drum. For cyclists this is super important because that means you can hear audio and hear your surroundings as you ride, such as cars and other potentially dangerous obstacles.
Coros LINX Smart Remote
The Smart Remote is mounted to your handlebars in whatever configuration you like. With the remote, control volume, skip tracks, pause music, take calls and more (ex: future programming) without stopping to fumble with your phone. Think of it as the silent partner of the Coros LINX RideAware™ audio platform. It gives riders an easy, safe way to control how they amp up their ride.
Note: A group communication accessory will be sold separately in the future. Timing and pricing are to be determined. The Smart Remote has a button reserved for easy integration.
Coros LINX Mobile App
Use the app to connect your LINX helmet, Smart Remote and smartphone. Receive navigation and essential ride statistics through voice - speed, distance, duration, pace, calories, time - all without taking your eyes off the road. Track your rides and ride history to include distance, time, average speed, max speed, calories burned, elevations and more. Set, save and share routes, set preferred waypoints, and share ride data with leading cycling apps in the future. Designate an emergency contact who’ll be notified in the event of a significant helmet impact.
Available for iOS or Android.

What can LINX do that other helmets can't?
Coros LINX is designed for people that bike, including recreational, commuter, and enthusiast cyclists. It delivers benefits to riders that no other helmet can deliver...
• Safe alternative for those that wear unsafe, distracting, wired earbuds
• Safe way to listen to music & podcasts for those that refuse to wear buds
• Ability to easily engage in a chat (wife, kid, friend, boss) while on a ride
• Convenient and reliable communications with fellow cyclists
• Freedom to be accessible or to disconnect, on the rider's terms
• Route, navigation and ride stats, delivered real-time via voice
• Security and peace of mind from the emergency alert system
• Premium helmet first and foremost that seamlessly integrates tech
Keep in mind the parallel of Bluetooth navigation/audio, first introduced to high end cars just over ten years ago. Now it is ubiquitous. It was designed to solve for safety and accessibility, keeping eyes on the road. We hope to lead a similar transformational change in cycling.

What people are saying about LINX
'Hearing is believing', that is the theme. We have been overwhelmed by the positive response Coros LINX is getting after demos and road tests conducted by enduro record holders, enthusiasts, commuters, and weekend riders.
At our first show, the STP (Seattle to Portland), the majority of exhibit attendees said they were ready to buy LINX on the spot. Of course, we could not sell because we are saving this for Kickstarter backers.
LINX has been road tested by countless riders, including a dozen cyclists for 14-22 hours straight, with full validation. This includes record setters for the fastest speed across Oregon, while using LINX.
We have heard from naysayers. "I will never ride with music." After these riders used LINX, 100% changed their thinking. Road testers are loving the freedom to SAFELY listen to music, calls, friends, nav, and more.
**Kind words from our road testers**
"Not gonna lie. I like listening to music on the ride commute. I was adamant I wouldn't ride with audio, but it's pretty awesome." -Mid 30s Triathlete
“It is amazing to be able to listen to music with my ears completely open to conversations with teammates, automobiles, and other bikers.” -Mid 30s commuter, weekend rider
“Hearing your surroundings while music plays made me a believer. This is a great product!“ -44, STP (Seattle to Portland) Rider
“LINX communications was extremely helpful, and being able to listen to music while being alert to cars kept me energized throughout the Oregon speed record." -39, Oregon and Washington Record Speed Holder
“The helmet is high quality, even before all its smartphone features, bells, and whistles.” -28, Bike Shop Worker
“No more single earbud, no more falling out, and no more wires to deal with.” -29, Roadie

Why Coros LINX?
Pretty obvious starting point, the problem. As active sports enthusiasts and cyclists, the problems were clear and the potential solutions dramatic. We focused on ideas that not only addressed a set of problems, but did so by innovating in a way that could be transformational in how we (recreational, commuters, enthusiasts) enjoy our cycling experiences.
All riders seek safety first. The majority enjoy, or wish to enjoy, the freedom to listen to music, socialize, and access smartphone capabilities. Many of these people choose earbuds as their solution, which are dangerous and distracting. Integrated open-ear bone conduction eliminates any need for earbuds, thus eliminates one of the biggest safety hazards in biking. For those that would like to listen to music, there is now a safe option.
There are people that would like to bike more, but choose not to because they can't get away from the office, need to be connected and accessible to spouses, kids, bosses, etc. Now they can be connected, while enjoying a nice ride or commuting from point A to B. Lastly, for those seeking freedom from it all - do it! Disconnect, peace out, and enjoy the ride. When you are ready, Coros is ready for you.
Below is a skit on some of the big problems. We respect cyclists' capabilities and smarts, but we are all human and make mistakes. So a bit of a dramatization, but you get the point.
Timeline and Progress
We have made great progress and are almost to the finish line.
We've been diligent with feedback, tapping our Product Advisory Group as a key source of insights. We have done manufacturing testing, and are excited to shift into the final phase of manufacturing readiness. While we are doing minor polish updates, we are spending most of our time improving the app and enhancing features around routes, voice nav and stats.
We are confident and committed to shipping product to backers in time to enjoy fall cycling and holiday gift giving time.
Funding - What is it for?
As a start-up, we have a lot of work in front of us, so every backer dollar means a lot to us.
First, your investment will go toward app development. There are a number of features we want to deliver, but need to invest more resources to complete in Q4 including integration with leading cycling apps (Strava, Map my Ride) and evolving the RideAware platform. Unique to helmets, Coros LINX will get better over time so more app features is goodness for all.
Second, funding will go toward building the Coros community, and driving transformational change within the cycling industry by addressing safety improvements and unsafe earbuds. Lastly, the cost of manufacturing hard goods is expensive, and scale improves both sustainability and our ability to deliver better customer services (which we are very keen about).
All backers are included in the Coros Kickstarter Hall of Fame. We are working on stretch reward(s), hope to offer that soon.
We are grateful for any and all support, including spreading the word to friends! Thank you so much for supporting Coros and LINX, and we welcome you to the Coros community.

Best ride: Casual hauls along Lake Sammamish and the Burke-Gilman Trail.
Best LINX moments: Listening to my kids' electronic music while going up steeps, and enjoying catching up with friends and doing work calls while getting in a workout.
Stuart Johnson, Marketing and Brand
Best ride: I really love Hot Rod's pool jump attempt. But riding - so many - I remember an evening training ride in Texas when a whole crowd of long-horned bulls ran alongside the fence beside us for a few feet. That was pretty cool.
Best LINX moments: My first ride with a LINX really. I remember thinking, "Woah. No way. Is this for real?" It was.
Steve Levy, Product and Business Operations
Best ride: Completing the STP, notching 206 miles six weeks after breaking my collarbone on a training ride.
Best LINX moment: Being the second person to test the helmet, and loving it so much that I became Coros' second employee.
Troy Trimmer, Sales and Business Development
Best Ride: Nailing a "level 10" rated single track after many attempts when I followed a riding buddy "over the lip" and made it to the bottom clean.
Best LINX moment: Encouraging Team Coros during STP by riding a leg with them, then celebrating with them as they stopped by the Coros booth...and their helmets were still playing music.
Vincent Xiong, Product Development
Best Ride: All social rides with friends.
Best LINX moment: When LINX technology addresses a consumer problem, especially related to safety. It was a great moment when LINX achieved Consumer Product Safety Certification.
Risks and challenges
Manufacturing capacity. We expect to be manufacturing at volumes that will meet demands, however in the event of over-subscription we will need to open up additional lines. We are limiting total units to what we feel we can deliver to backers by November.
Wearables are challenging. We acknowledge that designing and manufacturing wearables is difficult, from ergonomics to the electronics in the helmet to the BlueTooth and app. We have been rigorously testing the helmet and are confident in the product quality and reliability. We will have a 12 month warranty and a crash exchange program that should put consumers at ease.
Start-up. Too much to do, too few resources and capacity to get it all done. We are a small guy going up against well established players. We have several patents pending that will help mitigate threats to our integrated audio solutions.
Inclusiveness. We won't be able to include all features and benefits that we want to include or that will meet all the needs for all the audiences. That we understand and thus make smart trade-offs, such as minimum weight for optimal tech. We prioritized, and feel confident that we are meeting key requirements that deliver the basics, differentiators, and delighters.
Helmets on heads. We know that when people wear the helmet, experience the audio, and hear the benefit of awareness to the environment, it is a winner. Conversion to "I want it" has been overwhelmingly positive when users demo the full system - the comfort, open ear audio of the bone conduction, convenience of the smart remote, and simplicity and functionality of the app. However, prospective Kickstarter backers will not have the luxury of hearing and seeing it in action, so that is a risk. So we will do this through other means, videos, testimonials, and how-to's.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
