I am thrilled to welcome you to my first Kickstarter campaign to bring my book to life!
I need your support for my dream to come true to help save the arts and provide visual literacy in the 21st Century!
Visual literacy is:
- understanding what you see
- a form of critical thinking
- what it means to be literate in the digital age
It is more important than ever before that we have this ability. Consider how technology continues to give us more ways to communicate and evoke emotion using images.
The paradox is, that the revolution in visual communication is happening at a time of drastic cuts to the Arts and Arts Education.
The book, Art For All Ages, is my response to this paradox.
Why this book? Why now?
Because making art in the way presented in this book, is a real path for anyone to become confident and knowledgeable in discussing and making visual decisions.
Help me get my book, Art For All Ages, out to the world! I need your support!
To help cover:
- Quality color printing
- Graphic design formatting
- Proofreading costs
- Copyright of famous museum artists
The goal for publication of this book is ambitious. With your help, though, I know we can make it happen!
The activities within Art For All Ages are designed to be interactive and multi-generational, with experiences that can be shared with young and old, siblings, support groups, best friends, children with parents and grandparents, couples, and adult friends.
While each activity can be done alone, the full benefit emerges within an interactive group. How better to reach as wide an audience as possible?
From the book...
Making visual decisions is an increasingly valuable skill. Yet so many of us are stuck in the the belief that we are not creative.
"I'm not an artist. I can't even draw a stick figure."
Have you ever had such thoughts? Throughout my 35 years of teaching, I've heard similar frustrations from young students and high school athletes to my 71 year old neighbor, attorneys and others at art gatherings in my studio. All were initially held back by preconceived notions of what their art "should" look like.
"Every child is an artist. The problem is staying an artist when you grow up." - Pablo Picasso
An everyday miracle is available within these pages. Just as exercise physically activates endorphins that reduce stress and make us feel great, making art, as presented, can produce a similar experience that I call, "Pizzazz of the Heart."
By now you can see that this is not just another art book! Art For All Ages is truly a hybrid of genres:
- Art History: Art history is an important component within this book. However, Art For All Ages is more than just a survey of finished art or bodies of work. Few books on art history teach the art process; none guide the artist's experience.
- Art Therapy: I am passionate about nurturing the artists' experience: an energized focus, feelings of reconnection and centeredness that are, above all, therapeutic.
- How-to Art Instruction: Art For All Ages is a visual step by step rendering of how to create quality art. The book's focus on the artist's experience is unique. It differs in other ways as well. For example, Art For All Ages DOES NOT in any way resemble a paint by number book as do many in the "how-to" genre.
- New Age - Self Discovery: The meditative states cultivated in Art For All Ages are addressed in some "new age" books, with a key difference: Art For All Ages is easily accessible and fun!
- Coffee Table Book: Best of all, Art For All Ages is a beautiful, color-printed book filled with original artwork by me, my former students and great renowned fine artists. It can be on display or shared as a wonderful gift!
Art For All Ages is organized into three mutually integrated parts as follows:
Recipes for Success
The activity lessons in Art For All Ages are time-tested -- selected from the visual curriculum that I developed over 35 years teaching arts in public schools and privately to adults and multi-generational groups. Art history is an important component, seamlessly woven into the activity lessons.
Each recipe calls for its own Essential Ingredients, one or more art skills that you will use to complete the recipe's activity. Adults (or adults with children) can dive into the book at any point to find inspiration, choose activities, and acquire skills in easily accessible ways.
Self-discovery pieces are scattered throughout, such as "The Art of Aging" and "The Universal Age of Symbols." Some are fact-based, like "Harmony of the Brain," which invites you to the awareness that you are inherently creative and artistic. Others are more inspirational, like "Mindfulness, Meditation, and Art," which describes the feelings and focus of reconnection that you can experience while you are making art.
This is the only book that provides exceptional, how-to instruction while also nurturing and guiding the wholistic experiences available to anyone making art in the way presented.

Why I need your support:
Printing and development costs for this book have been substantial. I have funded approximately a third of the project to date including a designer's fee to format the book, professional proofreader fees to perfect the editing, and securing copywriting and digital fees. I need help to get the book printed and distributed. I need your Kickstarter support to make this a reality.
Any overage contribution from the campaign goal will be used for additional printings. I intend to reach out to schools for book signings and contribute a percentage of the profits in support of art education programs!
In return for supporting my cause, please check out the various rewards as my gift to you. See more at Corinne Designs.
Thank you for your support to make my dream a reality!
Risks and challenges
Honesty, I see the project as running smoothly. I have left a cushion for production especially considering the content of the book is complete. If anyone has any concerns or questions about the project, they can email me directly Coriart4all@gmail.com.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
