MAY UPDATE: MomoCon, Best Game Narrative, costumes!
Welcome to the May update. We're inbetween 2 events: we just came back from Casual Connect Asia and we're going to MomoCon next week. Anyone goin' to MomoCon? Please visit us at our booth on the Indie area!
1. MONSTER PROM WON "BEST GAME NARRATIVE" AT INDIE PRIZE!
So... last week I have been on Singapore, attending Casual Connect Asia. I met lots of wonderful people. I have to highlight the wonderful people from the "Holy Potatoes!" games, some people from Tencent, Brian from Ysbryd Games and the great team from LeGrand Legacy!
Also... it happened that Monster Prom won the BEST GAME NARRATIVE prize. There were a good bunch of games showcasing there... so it's a huge success for us! I attended the event with no intention of winning a thing. I just went to meet people and make some good ol' networking. I knew that technically we were nominated, but for some reason I just ignored the chances of actually winning until the moment they said we were winners at that category. It was awesome. It means a lot since we have this raunchy and rather bold tone, so I'm always afraid that our very specific voice might not click with the audience. But every time we see people laughing out loud while playing the demo or these judges giving us this marvelous prize, I feel a bit more confident in our creative choices.
So... special congratulations to all our team and to Cory, our lead writer!
Also: it was a good heavy prize! I have this bizarre criteria to value a prize: a prize is a good prize if you can kill a human being by using the prize as a weapon. If you can do that, then it is a good prize. And boy you can bet you can take a life with this prize!
2. MONSTER PROM: FINALIST AT MOMOCON!
Also... we are finalists at MomoCon! Winning will be a longshot, since we're competitioning (damn I love Master of None and Alessandra Mastronardi) against heavy weights such as The Banner Saga 2 or Shadow of the Shogun. Damn!
But at least there are editors of huge ass media outlets within the judges, so it will be a perfect chance to get those media outlets to discover Monster Prom. I hope they like it!
Also, I'm SU trash big time, so I'm sure it will be a great trip if only because I will meet the amazing voice actors and actresses from that marvelous show!
But yeah, if you're a Monster Prom fan and you're attending MomoCon, it will be a perfect chance to meet in person and play our demo! And please, please, please, cosplay as Monster Prom characters! *_*
3. CURRENT DEVELOPEMENT
We're preparing lots of new events. That's probably the most important thing. We're getting really close to a first playable run of the game (even if a bit rigged). We might have found a way of speeding up the writing a bit more, so that's beyond good!
This month art is going a bit slower than usual. But we're polishing the minor NPCs and we started to work on cosumes for the love interests when you meet them in the AUDITORIUM.
We also planned the programming side of the project. We're working on the tags that will shuffle the events each time you play. This is one of the most important things on the game. Let's see how it plays out! We might also look for some extra programming muscle to implement an online mode. Do you know someone with experience on that field that could be interested?
4. OTHER PROJECTS
We're gathering all INDIE G ZINE - VOLUME 2 pieces and we're preparing the book to send it to the printers! It's looking awesome... and Monster Prom will be on it! We updated the piece so now it has the new better bearded Scott!
We're still working on They Came by Night too! And MAZEMAN! (:
And that's all for now!
Thanks for all your support!
