Project Update - 05 January 2018
Hello fellow Mountaineers, and Happy New Year!
I hope you had an amazing holiday season. I was able to take time off work and be with family and friends, and I'm feeling quite rested and energized. Hence, I wanted to give you a quick update on our project. (:
Kirk Dennison from PieceKeeper Games is hard at work getting all the final logistics for freight and shipping figured out. We had an update call yesterday, and he was just about to start booking things! I'm very glad to have been able to contract his help for this project. He is insanely smart, and has done this many times. We are still choosing our final fulfillment companies for a few regions, but when we have finished, I'll update you and let you know the details!
As far as timelines go, things are very tight! We are still on track for finishing production before the beginning of Chinese New Year. However, when both the manufacturer and the freight companies decide to close, will affect whether or not we can get freight going before or after Chinese New Year. Finishing manufacturing 1 day late could end up in a 4 week delay, if the freight companies close right after we finish. After talking to Kirk and our LongPack project manager, I think we still have a chance, but please keep your fingers crossed! Just wanted to be straight forward with you and let you know what is happening. I'm also going to look and see if there is a way to pay LongPack to have workers do overtime or something. Really hoping we can have product on boats by the end of this month!
I plan to have an update call with Luisa this weekend on translations, so that we can start getting those cards and rule books printed in time to meet up with the games when they reach the fulfillment centers. Thanks again to those of you who have helped translate. It is much appreciated!
I'm going to get back to work on some other things now, but wanted to give you all the low down on where things stand after the holidays.
Enjoy the New Year, and be sure to shred some powder if you happen to have some in your area!
A short clip from when I went snowboarding with a friend visiting from Germany on Mt. Hood at Timberline Lodge.
Did a nice 14km snowshoe hike up a butte called Milican Crater. It afforded nice views of North Sister in central Oregon, but the 100 mph winds at the top in the dark were quite chilling. Literally!
