I'M MAKING AN ALBUM! No I mean it! We met the goal. WooHoo! Please consider backing this project & let's make this project even better!
UPDATE- We made it to our goal of $9,000! That is amazing! What's more amazing is that we did that in the first 15 days of a 30 day campaign. The great news is that we can use the rest of this time to continue to support and fund this project. 9K was what it took to make this album happen. Anything over that will only increase the value of what we're doing. Additional funding will still go solely to the production of this album which would mean we could potentially do more songs, bring in more/different musicians, & spend more time in post production. In other words if you contribute even now that the goal has been met you will be adding depth to this project. SO LET'S NOT STOP NOW! Thank you all so much for getting us to this rare point that we can push to raise even more than our initial goal!
Hi, I’m Corey Nolen. I am a husband, father, photographer, and songwriter from Birmingham, AL. Of those 4 things, songwriting has described me for the longest amount of time. Fifteen years ago I started making music (though some would argue that is what I was doing). As I developed as an artist I soon learned that my niche and my passion for music was in the lyrics. Even when I wasn’t actively pursuing music, I could never stop writing.
Over the past couple of years I discovered new outlets for my music. As I’ve played shows and even made some recordings, it's been difficult to keep up with the pace of my songwriting. I have a lot of really great songs that the world has never heard. I would like for that to change.
I have always dreamed of working with a producer. Someone to take my songs and hear them in new ways and then get the right folks to execute those sounds. Though I have recorded a lot of music in my life this is the first time I am bringing in someone to craft and shape my songs and make them exponentially better than I’m able to do on my own. This will be a fantastic album!
THIS IS ALL OR NOTHING! We must meet the goal in order to make this project. If we do not meet or exceed the goal then your pledge is not collected and this project does not happen. I cannot begin to express how unbelievably grateful & overjoyed I will be when we do meet this goal together! Let's do this!
So where does the money go? Every single penny that this project raises will go toward the production of the album. This includes…
Recording & Producing: Brian T. Murphy will drive from NYC to Birmingham with all of his glorious gear and set up a studio on location. We will record this album in one big block of time. Brian brings so much experience to this album. He currently plays piano with The Lone Bellow and recently recorded with world renowned producer Charlie Peacock. He has shared the stage with many incredible acts including James Taylor, John Mayer, & Counting Crows. In addition Brian has produced and engineered many amazing albums including Red Mountain Music & Brian Elmquist (The Lone Bellow).
Musicians: I will have the best of the best playing with me on this album. A portion of the funds will go to pay the deserving players & singers.
Mixing/Post Production: The tracks we record in Birmingham will then be sent back to NYC to be mixed by Jeremy Griffith at Singing Serpent Studio.
Album Replication & Artwork: I know, I know you’re just going rip the CD into your computer and then use it as coaster but it’s still cool to put your hands on some music right? The artwork will be for the album & websites.

We are estimating that the completion of this project will be April 2014. There is always a potential for obstacles to come up when coordinating something of this magnitude. Many people will be involved in this album and there is always a potential for delay in scheduling. However the great news is that most of the folks I'll be working with on this project are also great friends of mine and ready and willing to make this happen. I am confident that we will be able to move smoothly past any obstacles that may arise in order to keep in line with our target date of completion.
