This is a set of five Mercenary Heroes, meaning they'll work for all Crews! Unlike the Storybook Crew or the Tusketeers these five are just in it for the money and glory... No loyalty among them, and no mini "Faction Bonus" - just the raw power of being a Mercenary!

Left to Right: Lu Bu (Brute), Jane Doe (Swashbuckler), Bluebeard (Captain), Selena (Gunner), Cierci (Quartermaster)

THE (DUBIOUS) HEROES

The mercenary Captain Bluebeard brings his sadistic machinations to the table. Using Blood Tithe to power not only his, but his allies skills and abilities Bluebeard does in fact "support" others... In a way.

Having no Basic Attack of his own, he instead trades it for the auto-damaging effects of Sinister Plots, even being able to re-use the skill once Leveled Up. Once his plots come to fruition, however, he can make use of his Blood Ritual skill, healing up anyone who paid his Tithe earlier!

Selena is all about Conditions. Her Basic Attack, Affliction allows you to choose any Condition and deal it to an enemy, and Recurring Nightmare means they'll keep those Conditions.

Worse still, couple all this with Penumbra and Selena has the power to outright KO an enemy Hero- assuming they have been wracked by enough bad fortune!

Jane Doe is the killer that won't stay down. Her passive skill, Relentless, means that the enemy can never be quite sure when she'll go down for good. Should she survive the engagement she'll also come back stronger than ever- unleashing the full wrath of her Forbidden Technique, aka the highest Hero damaging skill in the entire game (currently!)

Of course, Jane knows death, so her Basic Attack, Killer's Instinct matches this by giving you additional resources anytime she takes out a prime target!

Lu Bu just wants to hone his craft- and that craft is that of the Battle Chef! A culinary mastermind, Lu Bu might get a bit carried away with his Culinary Battleaxe and end up hurting himself, but he's a Brute, he's used to it!

Of course, Lu Bu brings numerous tricks to bear against his foes, the most notable of which being his Radiant Baldness! Who says you can't pull off that look? When Lu Bu shines his dome all attacking enemies are Blinded, suffering damage for each Miss to boot!

Of course, Lu Bu is always in control of his temper (well... sort of...) and he'd never hold your own pathetic lack of skill against you...He's Not Mad, Just Disappointed. He knew you could do better than that... But you didn't... And if you're not willing to give it your A game, then you're not worth his time, now are you? KO'ed!

Cierci walks between this world and the spirit world, and can even bridge those two worlds. Her Basic Attack, Hex Blades, curse any opponent Hit, and the sights they see beyond the veil leave them unable to use their most potent attacks- prolonged exposure will even Stun them!

Using her Channel the Spirits skill Cierci can heal your entire team, but at a small risk... Again, seeing beyond the veil is not for everyone.

Finally, Cierci can call upon the forbidden Shadow Ones- the dark beings that lurk beyond. Usually this means she can channel them to devastate her enemies... But if she accidentally summons one that she can't control... Well, it won't end up good for anyone. Use at your own risk.

And there you have it, Captains! The Cutthroats will join any crew willing to meet their price! Recruit them today!

Bluebeard seems to be a visual reference to Rasputin from the animated Anastasia. I love the new Kill Bill homage, more subtle than the ultimately changed version from Zombicide season one.

    2. Brad Trulove on April 27, 2016

Selena looks alot like Lulu from Final Fantasy X.

    3. wikiro on April 27, 2016

Sabrina, kill bill, bluebeard french folktale, Odysseus sex partner, and dont know the last one Lu Bu

    4. wikiro on April 27, 2016

Young witch with older sisters and a car puppet. Its all your typical Sabrina hygienic. Sabrina was an awful show. Lol

    5. wikiro on April 27, 2016

      Sabrina the teenage witch reference

    6. Arthur K on April 27, 2016

      Is that.... Shylock?

    7. Lee Millar on April 27, 2016

Is Cierci standing on her own tabard tails? That's going to end up badly and woman overboard...;-)
In seriousness though, is that the final sculpt or has the painting just made it look like that?

    8. Lars on April 27, 2016

Well done with the female characters. They are awesome!

actually you can double pledge even the basepledge and you will get 2 times the exclusives. It has been that way with every cmon kickstarter in the past as far as i remember.

    10. Daemandred on April 26, 2016

You can't back the game twice for two sets of exclusives? I want to try painting them but don't want to ruin the figures if I do a bad job. Currently debating just double backing the cutthroat

Well yes but first of all it will be the other persons turn so he could do all kinds of shenanigans again. + you have to at least sacrifice one hero before you even get a shot at him and you have to even get a brute that low in the first place.

Since 'salvation' skill comes back to level 1 right after. You can activate another hero and free kill the 1hp Lu Bu. Here's your counter play.

Could it be that Lu Bu's "not mad just dissapointed" skill together with hernan cortes (inquisition captain) skill "salvation" is seriously broken? because i have no clue what could counter it. Lu bu wont die be set to 1 hp and then he will retaliate 11 damage whcih will almost be always enough dmg to kill any opposing hero( except a full health brute. So Lu bu will just chop away on enemys objectives without much counterplay... doesnt sound like much fun to me.

    14. Akira on April 26, 2016

this is really the last add on? no sea monster pack? no more hero packs?

    15. "The Mad Rabbi", King of the Undead on April 26, 2016

This should up the pledges quite a bit. Now we need to reach $650k, then hopefully get our much needed Marea de la Muerte gunner.

    16. "The Mad Rabbi", King of the Undead on April 26, 2016

In my opinion, probably the best Hero pack made. Jane Doe alone is freaking brutal. She can take out anyone with her Forbidden Technique. That's why it's so costly to level up. Definitely getting this because they look awesome, not just because they're KSE.
Forget about the additional dice. This is an offer I can't refuse.

    17. Charles-Antoine on April 26, 2016

Lu bu is obvious by his name yes, Bluebeard aka Barbe Bleue from French Perrault's Tales

    18. Dave the Dead on April 26, 2016

@Charles-Antoine: I think they're mixing a couple of genres, but you definitely found the main look. I'm still pretty sure the blonde witch backstory is a Charmed reference too.

    19. Charles-Antoine on April 26, 2016

Jane doe seems to be Beatrix Kiddo from the movies Kill Bill

    20. Dave the Dead on April 26, 2016

Hold on a tick...Lu Bu is Romance of the Three Kingdoms...unless I'm reading too much into it.

Now I want to know the inspirations for these.

    21. Dave the Dead on April 26, 2016

      Is Selena a Charmed reference?

    22. Charles-Antoine on April 26, 2016

Selena seems to be Lulu from Final Fantasy VIII ;)

    23. Krzysztof on April 26, 2016

      Radiant Baldness... pure dead brilliant!

    24. Dave the Dead on April 26, 2016

So, I take it Jane Doe is Beatrix Kiddo?

    25. The Collector on April 26, 2016

Hmm I seem to have seen Selena in another miniatures game, I just can't remember which one.

    26. FoolsBane on April 26, 2016

      +1000 Agreave. ;)

    27. Agreave (carpets ARE required) on April 26, 2016

Well, at least they're not orcs ;)

    28. FoolsBane on April 26, 2016

Cmon, Now you're talking. Awesome Box. SOLD! :)

Oke, yeah... These guys/gals I really cannot pass up on...

Whoops. Template Issue There! Jane Doe has the correct Hero Card there now :)

      Matthew on April 26, 2016

Jane Doe's card doesn't seem to be correct. The Relentless ability mentioned seems to be missing.

    32. Lunar Biscuit on April 26, 2016

And yeah... They don't sound overwhelming - shattered my dreams of the British Navy coming up in this campaign - I suppose I'll have to wait another season yet again for a chance ^^

      Sitic on April 26, 2016

Not sure how i feel about this set- but that swashbuckler has some sort of typo on her skills, doesn't she?

    34. Lunar Biscuit on April 26, 2016

Jane Doe has the wrong skills on her dashboard - that's the skills of a previous swashbuckler :)

    35. Krzysztof on April 26, 2016

How come most females in Second Tide are Gunners (and most Gunners are female)? And where is the missing Gunner from Marea de la Muerte?
