We've sailing toward our next Stretch Goal, Captains, and hopefully soon Belle Rose will join the Crew!

As more and more faces and factions begin to enter the hunt for Davy Jones' Treasure, however, our latest group, the Iron Inquisition (Full faction rundown HERE), has summoned more of its Holy Crusaders to enter the fight!

HEROES OF THE INQUISITION

Torquemada holds some of the most sacred artifacts in the Inquisition. His Basic Attack, Sword of Wrath, can be super-charged to deal enough damage to KO most any Hero outright- at a cost, of course.

Meanwhile, his Sacred Flame ability allows him to clear whole waves of enemies in a single stroke.

Rounding him off we have The Eternal Crusade, which fills the Inquisition's "retribution" theme by allowing a Hero to gain an additional activation should one of their comrades fall in battle.

Rosario brings the full technological might of the Inquisition to bare. Her Modified Blunderbuss deals extra damages on 6's, and has one of the longest ranges of any Basic Attack.

And what good sniper would be complete without the ability to Headshot? If given the time to properly align her shot up, Rosario can deal an impressive five damage to a Hero from an even more impressive five zones away!

Finally we have Rosario's Auto-Gun- and while it doesn't deal the most damage in the world, it is still very accurate and, more so, being a Reaction, is essentially a free attack on an enemy- what's not to love?

Saint Vinductus (of the core Inquisition Heroes) focused on buffering his allies attacks at the cost of damaging them, Vasco here takes a different route by being all about added mobility to his companions. This is shown via his Onward!!! skill, which allows Vasco and all his allies to better position themselves on the map. Few other Quartermasters in the game offer the mobility Vasco brings to the table.

Of course, Vasco is no push-over in combat. Sure, he's down an arm, but he's replaced it with a nifty Double Shot gun, which allows him to make two attacks on two different targets. While this has its pros and cons, when leveled up it allows two separate attacks at Range 2- use this fact to your advantage, Captains!

Vasco also cares about the Crew, and brings The Conquest to the table. When friendly Crew attack a zone and clear it of enemies (which, in Second Tide also means they advance into that zone!) Vasco can force them to activate again- more importantly, if he ha the Coin to spend, he can retain use of this skill, meaning that you can trigger it again-and again-and again really allowing a zone of Crew to rocket forth in the Inquisition's name!

El Verdugo is an executioner, meaning he executes things, usually with his execute attack.

Overview done!

Ok fine. First let's note that Verdugo has a passive ability, Aegis of Faith, which prevents him from getting Condition Tokens of any kind, as well as being Pushed by enemy effects- the guy is a juggernaut, and he doesn't like being messed with.

His Basic Attack is the no-frills Axe Sweep, which gains additional dice the more enemies in the zone- leveled up it also causes Bleed. Nothing glamorous, nothing insane, just a nice utility skill!

Now we come to the nastiness of Verdugo's kit: Execute (obviously you need something to use all that stock-piled Coin on!).With a single mighty swing of his axe Verdugo can completely annihilate an enemy Hero or Objective. Load him up and chop 'em down!

Diego has seen quite a bit of action in his day- so much that he's more weapon than man now- not that he's complaining.

His passive ability makes it so anytime this Swashbuckler Pushes an enemy Hero they suffer 1 damage- very nice since all his abilities do just that!

His Basic Attack is Handcannon, which is your typical 3 dice-3-to-Hit you see on Swashbucklers. One of the keys here, however, is once it's leveled up it gains a range of 2, meaning if you're directly next to a Hero you can hit for upwards of 4, Push them back for an additional 1, shoot them again, and push them for another 1 damage!

Combine this with his Hammertime attack and you can really lay down the hurt on a Hero! Diego is meant to take down other Heroes, its his job, and he loves his job!

But that's not all, Captains! To top today off we also have some other, albeit smaller, Optional Buys for you!

You like dice? Of course you like dice!

We've added Faction Dice Packs to the Optional Buy Menu!

The crew not being very educated, that is.
The women.....were quite educated to somewhat, depending on their life before piracy.

It's not so much as that, Lars. During the Age of Piracy, there weren't many female pirates. Two, in fact: Anne Bonney and Mary Read. Pirates didn't think women were capable of being pirates (after all, most weren't all that educated) and two, women were often frowned upon ships, considering them bad luck.
I love it that they made a female the captain of the Marea de la Muerte.
This game's in a whole different ballpark compared to The Others (which still has very few female characters) or ZBP (has a good number of female characters).
Plus those who backed the first game, unlike myself, got plenty of female characters that will be able to be a part of R&B 2, provided you get the Upgrade Kit.
I wished I had backed the previous game, but was concentrating my funds on ZBP (mainly), The Others (runner-up) as well as Scythe (it interested me) and Lobotomy (always wanted to play a board game that takes place in an insane asylum).
Got the La Brie expansion and hero pack for a good deal in retail. The deals they were offering for the previous game were good, but what they discounted from the game would be made up in shipping, so I'll get what I can retail for R&B.

Obviously Saint Seraphina is awesome in this regard. I love the design on her.

@Crystal You're not greedy at all. Both men and women are missing out on more interesting female characters because of how narrow the design mindset is towards them. The problem lies obviously not only at CMON. It's the objectification of women in our society that's still present, although things are thankfully slowly changing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge R&B fan and I adore the design of many of it's characters. I just wish CMON would make an even bigger effort in this matter.

@Kenna - Yes, I looked back at the first R&B and saw her and loved her. I wish we had a giant pink battle lady in this game. And call me greedy but I want more than one or two "other" ladies to play with. It's more variety than some other companies, sure but I'm greedy. I want a full spectrum of kick ass ladies with practical armor and shoulder-mounted parrot cannons and stuff. XD

@Crystal - I can see that, though CMON generally offers up one or two in that area, at least. The first Rum & Bones KS had an exclusive team of women called the Luck Goddesses featuring a rather large Valkyrie named Hilda (love her!). And Killer Kaya on that team isn't as busty as most. But it's true there are no older lady pirates yet. Captain Sarah Kale has arms of steel, though!

    7. Lunar Biscuit on

Interested to see the balancing notes between this gunner and the Blackout Bart remake, she has a guaranteed 4 damage attack at 3 range without hurting herself against barts average of around 4 damage while potentially hurting himself just as much...

@Kenna - I'm a lady gamer as well and my problem isn't that there are some sexy ladies. My problem is that *almost all* the females are young, sexy, and scantily clad. How many older ladies are minis? Are there any unattractive ones? There are plenty of old or heavy or ugly men but all of the women fit in a very narrow spectrum.
I don't mind if there's sexy ladies. I just would appreciate some diversity on body types, age, skin color, etc.

$25 is your price during the Kickstarter. Retail price is unknown at this point, but it will not be $25.

    10. Crazitas on

No exclusives or discount for pledging on this hero pack? Guess I will just wait until retail. Like the direction though of providing 5 in hero packs instead of the 3 from Season 1. Never made much sense that you couldn't have alternates for each faction role....just the 3 if you didn't pledge to S1. Good for the masses. Not so much for the people paying 6+ months out before getting any product.

Are there really that many women offended by some plunging necklines? Being a female gamer who plays with other female gamers more often than men, I know we are frequently the first ones to go "Arrrrrr! I want to play the busty wench!"

    12. Lars on

@Bry just because this hobby has been dominant by men in the past, doesn't mean that's the case today.

Things are slowly changing. Just look at the board game Myth, with many well designed female characters that doesn't give that "look at me, I'm a sexy girl for you to paint and play with!" Impression. This is important, as it opens up for more female gamers and a more equal community.

Do opponents' objectives count as enemies? It seems like so from the definition of "enemy" in the 1st season manual. E.g., El Verdugo would roll three dice to attack a zone containing only an opponents' objective.

If it's like the other CMON Kickstarters, you can add funds during the pledge manager and get more stuff ;)

    15. The Collector on

@Lance, well you might want to pickup some S1 items or even the core box in the future or some of the S1 hero packs, then you'll have the upgrade ready so to speak :)

      Pledge increased! ;-)

i was wondering why the inquisition didn't have the (in)famous inquisitor torquemada! and here is the answer!
Also that brute sculpt is just pure amazing! that big plastic axe and armor will be fun to paint...
but i think i will stay on hold for the moment...

i HOPE THERE WON'T BE ANY MORE KSE ADD ONS tied to optional buys (normal add on available later at retail are fine) im in a tight budget here please have mercy!

i think i will add the iron inquisition and upgrade pack (despite not having s1) in my pledge for sure... don't know about the storybooks characters yet... i don't know the sculpts and lore don't do much for me... beast abd belle are awesome though!
maybe the extra iron inquisition heroes and dracula hero pack in the PM...

    18. Dave the Dead on

      Verdugo is really good.

    19. Bry The Horcrux on

@Lars there will always be a few "non cleavage" like you want. Just look at the Felicia miniature. And you know how it goes, these are female paintable miniatures. Look at female sculpts in any miniature game. You know the tone that's set years before this game was even conceived. ;)

    20. Michael Martin on

I wish the crew and bosuns looked more Steam Punk-ish. I like the fluff of the Inquisition, but would like to have seen some little mechanical crew-bots...

I second Lars. When it seems like the only female minis are all young, hot, sexy things, it makes me roll my eyes at the lack of imagination.

Iron Inquisition by far my favorite Faction so far

Wow love the Brute for the inquisition in the add-on! They would fit really well in the Zombicide Black Plague Universe :P

    24. Lars on

@CMON while this is a very well designed female character, she does add to the overwhelming amount of R&B female character with a visible cleavage. This become ever so apparent in company of these very armoured men, but my point is even more obvious by looking at all your characters in total.

I'm not saying you never should have these "sexy lady pirates" with clearly visible boobs. I'm saying you'd do yourself a favour by once in a while taking a step back from how you usually portrait female characters and suit some of them up more, as you then will attract more female players to this game.

    25. CMON 32-time creator on

      @Boyden
The core game comes with 8 plain dice, and each pledge comes with 6 additional Deep Lords and Marea de la Muerte dice as well via Stretch Goals. If you care to purchase more, you now have the option via the Optional Buys :)
