Wizard of Legend is Coming to Switch, PS4, and Xbox One!

Posted by Contingent99 (Creator)

Hey Everyone!

We're teaming up with Humble Bundle to bring Wizard of Legend to Switch, PS4, and Xbox One! Humble Bundle will be our publishing partner for these platforms and will assist us in the porting and localization process. As you can imagine, we're super excited and can't thank everyone enough for helping us get to this point! As a note, we will still be self publishing Wizard of Legend on Steam.

We've also cut a new game trailer which provides a fresh look at some of the newer content that we've been highlighting in our recent updates. Check it out!

PlayStation Experience 2017

As part of the new partnership with Humble Bundle, we're happy to announce that we will be demoing Wizard of Legend at the PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, California from December 9-10th. We will be in booth 101 along with Aegis Defenders by GUTS Department! This will be our first consumer event and we hope that you'll have a chance to stop by and say hi!

You can read a bit more about it here on the PlayStation Blog:

Quick FAQ

Does this mean we can change our order to a different platform?

We're still looking further into this, but at first glance it seems that this will be difficult for us to do. Getting digital codes for these various consoles will not only require significant coordination between us, Humble Bundle, and the first-party console publishers, but will also include additional costs and overhead that we're not quite sure how we would handle at the moment. We hope to have more info in a future update.

When is the release date?

Wizard of Legend is currently scheduled to release in early 2018. We're going through each spell and polishing all the content that we can before putting the stamp on a build as the first release candidate. It's been quite a journey, but we hope that we can get through the final hurdles together!

Thank you for reading and, once again, thank you all for your amazing support! We couldn't have made it this far without you!

Hello creators! Will you have any option to trade in the Steam code to a PS4 (or other console) code? I've got a PS4 and would be really happy if I were able to play this there, even if it meant a bit of an upcharge. Thanks!

WOW Congrats on the partnerships. That means that enough people saw your creation and want to share it with the world. glad i helped you all get this far with my small donation :)
I for one wont mind buying this on switch as well when it comes out. Look forward to future things you all do.

      Happy New Year.

I would also love this on Switch instead of Steam, Moonlighter recently announced they are doing this a fee of $10 to cover the cost of the Switch version.

@Nefroth We've been in talks with GOG, but haven't committed to anything yet. We'd want to be on every major store out there, so it's likely that we'll eventually be there at some point down the line.

Congratulation for your new partnership with humble bundle !
The game still look incredible, however I have a question do you think you'll release the game on ?

R u guys working on a switch version?
I think with the handheld capabilities with the switch and the two player compatibility already there, a switch version would be amazing :)

@Cloak and Dagger Thanks for voicing your concern and what you've said is a fair statement. To shed some light on our decision, we've gone almost the entire development process under the assumption that we'd self-publish the game. However, we've been asked a lot about console ports over the months since the Kickstarter's launch and it was something that was unfortunately out of the question for 2 people working full time on the game to be able to do. As indie devs, it's something we'd love to do, and partnering with Humble Bundle was what helped us make that a reality.

We're still focusing on development of Wizard of Legend and aren't diverting any significant resources for the console ports (that's where Humble's help comes in). Most of the delays were simply because we needed more time to develop and polish the game and aren't related to the announcement we've made today.

Thanks and hope that clears things up and adds some perspective to the issue!

It always seems a bit off to me when a successfully kickstarted project like this goes to find a publisher anyway. I still have high hopes for this game, but this, along with the announcement of other platforms after delaying the PC release, makes me rather wary.

I really hope I can “switch” my code for the Switch lmao. I love this update.

@Drifting Fox I'm with you. I'd be willing to pay a little bit more to have it on PS4.

Since you're coming out on other platforms, can we Kickstart backers get a coupon code for a discount? I'd love to buy this for the Switch too. I'd be willing to pay for it now too if you give us a code!

    12. Drifting Fox on

Wow thats awesome guys! Really excited for ya! Hopefully you guys can find a way to allow us to 'switch' the version we'd like (Would love this on the Switch.) I'd be willing to put in another $5 if necessary for that.

@Matthew Our primary internal focus is the development of the Steam release version of the game. We aren't directly porting the game in-house and Humble Bundle is providing assistance on that end. Our initial tests showed that the porting process should go fairly smoothly without interrupting current development efforts and we're doing everything we can to finish up the remaining loose ends. Hope that clears things up!

How about focusing on PC/Mac release first for us KS backers that were here first?

    15. Mosu on

Absolutely would love this on Switch. Please allow us to change our platform. :)
