One December day in 2016, two songbirds, Camille Rose and Ashley Elizabeth, flew in to each other’s paths in the Pacific Northwest. As winter faded and their love bloomed, the folk-pop of Complimentary Colors was born.
Complimentary Colors dances through a rainbow of emotions with childlike joy as they play small, often unusual instruments behind their lush harmonies. Touted as "the lovechild of Amanda Palmer, Stevie Nicks, and Brandi Carlile", hear them explore their alt-folk and country roots together, adding touches of the theatrical, while they steal your heart with their catchy, heartfelt tunes and the love that they share.
Here we are, almost 2 full years after we formed this band, and we had a crazy idea. Since we know SO MANY talented people, we would just pull them together, rehearse a couple of times, and record a live album with a much bigger sound than our traditional acoustic duo. The result is a celebration of sound and friendship, a project that became a supernova outside of anything we ever dreamed of. We even got our dear friend Simran Narmis (SlowCamera Paparazzi) to paint us live! Featuring Morgan Laubach and Daniel Joseph of Ghost Town Cinema, Elle Archer of Shaylee, Hannah DiMo, Damian Hayes, Kyle Neidig, and Laura May Sowards, this recording is one of a kind, a snapshot of a moment suspended forever... And we need your help to bring it to life!
We're in the process of mixing the album now with its release slated for July 21. Your donations will help pay the talented folks mixing the album, editing videos (shoutout to Caitlin Indermaur for the Kickstarter video!), and handling other production tasks. Following our epic backyard release party, we'll be hitting the road for the first leg of tour to Montana and back, followed by shows in Seattle and a couple of other Oregon towns. Then we'll catch our breath until September when we head to California (San Francisco, Sacramento, Chico, and more TBA) and southern Oregon. If we exceed our goal, we'll start planning to extend our tour reach even farther... but one thing at a time.
As part of funding our tour, a big chunk (about $1000) of funds raised will be going toward outfitting us with a PA, a recording interface, and some new instrument cables. If we exceed our goal, we will be purchasing microphones, stands, and other essentials to make our array of tiny instruments sound the best that they can.
Ultimately, with all of this gear we intend to start a podcast, begin producing our own music as we travel, and spread the love as far and wide as we possibly can.
We've created some really fun rewards. That said, if there is something you'd absolutely love as a reward that you don't see listed, talk to us! We may be willing to discuss!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns (including those related to distance for reward delivery), please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you in advance for your support, and please remember to share this campaign far and wide. We are all the media! We can't do it without you!
With all our love,
Camille Rose and Ashley Elizabeth
Risks and challenges
Our biggest risks/challenges with this project will come from timelines for getting rewards out and staying within budget. However, we have built in a bit of cushion time around some of the more extensive rewards and don't anticipate having any trouble rising to those challenges.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
