Cliff note: Company C Contemporary Ballet is raising funds to help offset the cost of flying 11 dancers (and a small handful of staff) to New York City to participate in the Ballet v6.0 festival at the Joyce Theater.
Full Version: The Joyce theater is truly the mecca theater for dance.
To be invited to participate in Ballet v6.0 is a tremendous honor. The Joyce has designed this ballet festival to recognize the many dancers and choreographers who are creating work outside the traditional large company milieu and are forming their own small companies. Featured are companies from across the US, whose work represents a range of ballet styles, from neo classical to contemporary.
Under artistic director Charles Anderson, a former New York City Ballet dancer, the company will present a program featuring works commissioned for its 2013 season, including works by Brian Reader and Patrick Corbin, that will be performed for the first time in New York.
All we have to do is get there. And that is why we are here on Kickstarter. Big opportunities often come with big costs. We need your support to help to raise the money to fly our Company to NYC to participate in this fantastic opportunity.
Why is Touring Important for a young company like ours?
• Touring helps the dancers, choreographers and designers by giving them a chance to show their artistry to a broader audience and gain the greater recognition they deserve.
• Touring helps choreographers of new works: Touring extends the life of a new works that the company has commissioned by allowing us to bring these new ballets to as many people as possible.
• Touring helps all of the Company's artists by attracting media coverage, testing them outside their comfort zone and stimulate them to grow artistically.
Why are we on Kickstarter?
We need to help cover the costs associated with getting 11 dancers and the artistic staff across the continent. The funds we raise on Kickstarter will help offset the airline travel from California to New York City. But, we’re not just looking for a handout, although, if you want to just shower us with cash we won’t say no! Instead we have put together what we think are some cool rewards for helping us out.
And here’s another bonus: Company C Contemporary Ballet is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization so your support is tax-deductible. Once we are all settled up, we will send you a receipt that you can take to your accountant.
This is an amazing opportunity for the artists of Company C Contemporary Ballet. Thank you for supporting us.
