Dear backers,

While a big number of you are also receiving our Transform campaign updates, I'm posting this update for those of you who are not part of that campaign but do have a WiFi-Box.

Two big new upgrades have been done to the WiFi-Box:

1. You can now print directly from Transform to your 3D printer with your WiFi-Box, Our brand new webapp for 3D design that has just reached 1.0 status. For more information on Transform and how to purchase please visit www.doodle3d.com.

2. Cura's Beta release (2.7) now has a plug-in for the WiFi-Box, meaning you can wirelessly print directly from Cura with your WiFi-Box using this plug-in. We expect it will be included in the next Stable release in a number of weeks. If you can't wait to try it out download the latest beta for Cura at ultimaker.com/en/products/cura-software

If you have not updated your WiFi-Box in a long time please follow the following video:

That is all for now! If you'd like to get in touch with us you can reach us through chat on www.doodle3d.com.

Doodle3D Transform now on Kickstarter

The Doodle3D Transform app makes 3D-design and 3D-printing very easy. Our app is based on the idea that many 3D objects can be made by transforming 2D drawings and that is something anyone can do!

Dear backers,

The past months we have working been very hard on the next Doodle3D app. This message is to inform you a bit about our progress. But first we'd like to draw your attention to a completely new project from the guys from DATO with who we share our office space. They made a device to create music together. Like us they work and design to make technology more accessible so we are very happy to announce their launch here!

Make sure to check out their Kickstarter page and their entertaining launch video! The kids definitely seem to have a good time with their prototype :)

Now; in the mean time we have made a lot of progress on our new app. The official announcement launch will be in September on Kickstarter. We will keep you up to date as we progress towards that month.

We have also been working on a new Doodle3D plug-in for Cura which will allow you to send your sliced .stl's directly from Cura to your 3D printer if you have your WiFi-Box connected and have the Doodle3D plug-in installed in Cura. It has been developed for the new Cura release which is currently still in development at Ultimaker, but as soon as the release it our plug-in will be included with it.

So what have we been making with our new app and how is it looking? See below!

What's next?

There is still a lot of work to do on the next Doodle3D app. In September we will launch a new Kickstarter campaign to raise funding to be able to finish the project.

Besides a lot more features, the next Doodle3D app will also be accessible for people without a Doodle3D WiFi-Box or even without 3D-printer!

Stay tuned for more!

Dear readers,

We are very happy to announce that we are, and have been, working on a brand new Doodle3D appl! It has been in internal development for a good 8 months and it is now at a point where we can start showing it off and sharing it with the world.

If you are following us on facebook you may already have seen the first images come up in your newsfeed. To keep you in the loop we are now also posting this early announcement on our kickstarter page.

www.facebook.com/doodle3d

Things to know about the new app:

  • Our new app is a vector-based drawing interface using the browser, similar to our first app.
  • It will be a standalone application capable of many export options besides wireless printing to a WiFi-Box.
  • We designed it with the intent to be a more complete way to make and express creativity, while retaining most of the simplicity of our first app.
  • We are sticking with the design concept of '2D+1 = 3D' We now have a fully fledged 3D view of the object you create with its own 3D toolset.
  • There are a bunch of new tools, including a fill tool; finally you'll be able to print actual solid shapes with Doodle3D.

  • It is currently in alpha, with an early access beta somewhere within the next 2 months (or 'soon')
  • A lot of interface elements are still going through a lot of changes, and a lot of what we've planned is not in the app yet.
  • There will be a new kickstarter campaign to help us finish development on this new app and to be able to continue to improve it. We hope you will be with us when we do.

More updates and news to follow. If you have questions or comments feel free to contact us directly at info@doodle3d.com.

We would super appreciate it if you'd share some of our facebook news with your friends on FB, twitter, instagram, livingrooms, coffeecorners or where ever!

Basic filemanager - introduction

Hi everyone,

The Filemanager has already been included in our lastest Doodle3D patch. This post is to briefly describe where you can use it and what it’ll allow you to do.

In the Filemanager interface you can see all drawings on your WiFi-Box, how much unallocated space you have on the WiFi-Box and gives you the option to remove any selected drawings from your storage. This is very handy, because currently the WiFi-Box is limited to storing roughly 500KB of data, hitting the limit will result in not being able to save new drawings.

1. Go to connect.doodle3d.com

2. Select your WiFi-Box

3. Click Draw

4. With the interface open hit the ‘settings’ cogwheel Scroll down to the bottom untill you see the ‘open filemanager’ button

Happy Doodling!
