About this project
We set out a year ago with a desire to answer a simple question: How can we stylishly and comfortably put two people on a bike made for one? After tirelessly turning brainstorms into blueprints, we built our first prototype of the Companion Bike Seat - putting the prototype to the test with tandem riders of all shapes and sizes, we had finally proven we could do it - at least for one bike.
We then built a couple more, adding some features and reworking our designs to fit on several different types of bikes. With an official line of different prototypes in hand, we brought our Companion Bike Seats to SXSW. Providing free bike taxi services to major bars and venues. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, and has given us the spark and excitement to fuel our commitment to bring the Companion Bike Seat to riders everywhere.
We're very excited to announce the launch of our campaign on Kickstarter, which will help us realize the next major milestone in our journey, as we move from prototype to production.

- "I can give that cute girl a ride to class"
- "I can take my friend to the train station"
- "I can pick my friends up so they don't drive home drunk"

Why make a rear mounted bike seat...?
We all really enjoy bikes. We believe most people like bikes too, although they just might not have one.
What should we do if our friend doesn't have a bike? How can we also bring them along?
That is exactly what Companion Bike Seat set out to accomplish. Over the past year we have designed and built frames, felt and sat on different seats, tested the Companion on different types of bikes, and got lots of feedback.
That's where YOU come in!
With your support, we are super excited to create Companions! We have already received manufacturing quotes and should begin our first production run shortly after funding.
