What is the Comichaus app?
The elevator pitch? It’s like Netflix, for Indie Comics!
So, I get access to all your indie comics library for a monthly subscription?
That’s exactly it. For a monthly subscription of £3 (less than the price of most individual comics!) you get access to the whole of our library. You can also buy a yearly subscription for £30.
How’s this different from Comixology?
The Comichaus app is a bespoke comic book streaming app specifically created for the independent comic community, benefitting the indie creators and publishers, which can get lost in the sea of mainstream titles.
I’m not sure about indie comics. Can I have a sample?
Of course! Here are three great examples: You can download these for free now and check them out. Parental advisory advised :)
They look good. Tell me more about the App!
FREE to download, the App will be subscription and advert based, and all revenue generated from both will be split 50/50 between Comichaus and the creators/publishers.
The Comichaus 50% will go back into the running costs and continuing promotion of the App. It will also help us continue to pay all contributors to the Comichaus monthly anthology. The Creators 50% will be shared amongst all creators based on how many of their comic books have been read.
If a book is 'streamed' once - the creator/publisher will get one 'share' of the subscriptions/ad revenue share for that period.
Will I be able to sample the app before I subscribe?
Absolutely! The Comichaus App will have six 'Free' offline ready books for you to unlock and try out before you subscribe. These will change at least each quarter. We will also be letting everyone have a FREE one month trial subscription.
Why the adverts?
We will be making all members aware that the 'adverts' will be benefitting the creators - and will make sure they are not too frequent or spammy. Revenue generated by these adverts will go into the 'Creator Pot'!
Can I get rid of the adverts?
Yes! There will be an option to pay £10 extra a year to have a 'GOLD Subscription' which will remove all in app video adverts.
Where’s the money from the Kickstarter going?
The initial Kickstarted subscription proceeds will go towards the App creation and development. Anything raised over and above this will go towards promotion of the app. The more readers - the more everyone benefits
Who’s developing the app?
What’s the app going to run on?
Platform: iOS 9, iOS 10.x, Android 4.4 and newer
Layouts: Portrait Handset, Tablet Portrait, Tablet Landscape
What are the planned features?
Featured, favourites, recently viewed, new releases, free and top comics listings. Browse by Title, Publisher, Creator and Characters. Leave reviews, recommend and share what you are reading on social media platforms
I’m an indie comic book creator/publisher. How can I get involved?
Add £10 to upgrade your subscription to 'No adverts' for the year

Risks and challenges
We've made sure there are minimal risks involved.
Our team have run many successful Kickstarter campaigns, so have a great understanding of everything involved with delivering on time.
Work on the app has been underway, in one form or another, since January this year, and is all set to go live in August.
Not only that, but all comics offered in the rewards are either printed, or ready to be printed.
Should any issues arise, we will let you know immediately, and make alternative plans quickly and efficiently.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
