This is Jamar's studio assistant, Sandra, here with a new post to the kickstarter! I hope you've all been well.
It's been a long while since our last post here as well as Leon's debut at Baltimore Comic Con last Fall, so we thought it'd be nice to give you guys an update on the fun things that's happened since then.
THE END OF 2017
Following Leon's big debut, we here at Jamar Nicholas Studios had a lot of hustle and bustle of handling book orders as well as appearances and interviews! We rounded off the end of the year with Leon's first author signing event at Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse, a fun but topical podcast appearance with Graphic Novelism, and some good news from Artblog where Jamar & Leon were announced among the "Author! Author! BEST Books by Philadelphians" for the 2017 Liberta Awards.
You can listen to the podcast with Graphic Novelism here: http://www.graphicnovelism.com/2017/11/24-hey-kidscomics-ft-jamar-nicholas.html

Jamar also did an AMA Event, where you could send him questions online about anything. Obviously you can't send anything in now, as the event is already over, but if you're interested you can check out the questions that were asked and his answers here: https://artistama.amafeed.com/20-year-cartooningcomic-veteran-jamar-nicholas-hosts-artistama-a-career-470558?partner=2242
2018 TO NOW
With 2018 rolling in right after, you've probably heard some of the splashes that Jamar and Leon have made this far into the year. With not only appearances made at this year's Cons, Jamar had collaborated appearance events with not only Oak Lane Library (which he will be returning to for another event on June 27th!), but also Comcast and Xfinity stores across 4 cities in 4 different states in honor of Black History Month (although because of timing, he ended up touring through the months of March and April).
Last but not least, we're still so proud to say that Leon: Protector of the Playground won the 2018 Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity a few months back in February. And most recently, Jamar was announced as the winner of the Best Writer Category for the 2018 Glyph Awards, which he hosted May 18th.

And we're hoping to keep it going strong! Jamar and Leon will be trying for the 2018 Ringo Awards!
Voting surveys for the Ringo Awards are currently open to the public for nominations, but will be closing soon at the end of this month (May 30th).
So if you can, please consider casting your vote to Leon: Protector of the Playground (both heroes and villains) for the 2018 Ringo Awards!

That's about it for all the fun things that have happened and are currently happening with JN Studios. If you've reached the bottom of this update, thank you for sticking around and reading!
And of course, thank you again so much to those of you who have been patient, understanding, and supportive to not only Leon: Protector of the Playground, but to Jamar as well. It means a lot to us to see how enthusiastic the audience is to receiving Leon, and knowing that we've got people out here who are not only proudly supporting Leon, but also making it into a conversation.
Remember! If you guys have any questions or problems, or would like to get in touch with Jamar, please send me an email at Sandra@Jamarnicholas.com
We don't check comments on this kickstarter as frequently anymore since it's all wrapped up now, so if you post a comment instead of sending me an email, we won't see it!
Thanks again. And we hope you stick around to see Jamar and Leon's next big adventure!
