Hey Hey, Kickstarter backers!
Jamar here with the last update concerning the COMIC BOOK DINER campaign... that has to do with where books are. That must mean... we did it!
I'm happy and relieved to report that the hardcovers have come in, and they are out the door! As of this weekend, all orders have been shipped, or if there's a special case, I'm aware of it and the team here at Jamar Nicholas Studios is making arrangements.
One note: The hardcovers that we have are what are sometimes referred to as 'library and/or turtleback binding' and are the recreation of the softcover in a hardback format. The ROBOY RED and BUZZBOY books were made with dustjackets, and even though those are cool, John and I decided this is a sturdier and more permanent look for LEON. If there's enough interest in dustjackets, let us know and that can be something we can talk about for the future.
Like with the softcovers, I have tracking on all US orders but didn't have emails in my shipping manifest so if you want a tracking number, contact Sandra and we'll kick that info over to you. I have a feeling US people should be getting parcels on their doorsteps in the next day or so.
In other news, I have had some parcels return to the studio due to insufficient mailing addresses. I had asked repeatedly to send us your updated information, so I'm a bit unsure how to proceed with that. Sandra has reached out to some of you with address drama to see what we can do to get your book/s in your hands, but after that, there's not much else I can do if you don't tell me how to locate you.
SO, NOW WHAT?
It was a long, arduous road filled with lots of potholes and sinking hearts, but I appreciate those of you who stuck it out, as I knew I'd never give this up. Since day one, I was committed to Leon, and as some of you know, he existed before the kickstarter, so he'll also survive past this as well.
LEON (as well as the other two books in the CBD line) are out in the world, and you'll probably see this book on Amazon or in bookstores soon, and cross your fingers, but maybe OTHER places soon as well... but your initial support, and the push the last year or so to see this through has helped breathe life into this universe, for that, I can't thank you enough.
I'm so happy with how LEON has been received in the world, and this little guy to me and to possibly, you as well, more than some other creations out in the world has value--I've already heard from families who have shared him with their kids, or read this book to their little ones. There's a good heart and a message there, so pass it on, give it away, tell your librarians, teachers and anyone looking for something different to check it out. That's the most important thing to me, and the whole reason COMIC BOOK DINER and KIDS LOVE COMICS exists--to share the joy of comics with young people.
It's my hope to, between myself, John and Rich, to throw updates on here periodically about new COMIC BOOK DINER business, but I encourage you all to follow us on social media.
And as usual, if you need to reach out, hit up my assistant Sandra at firstname.lastname@example.org.
