What is THE COMFORTABLE VEGAN? It is an Illustrated introduction to being Vegan. It will be a 50 plus page Color Vegan recipe, tips and information book. There will be more than 40 recipes with easy to follow fun colorful layouts. I am doing a lot of information pages talking about easy VEGAN substitutes, B-12, Protein, Omega, and Calcium sources, information on resources and websites that Help make being vegan easy (like a website that tells you vegan restaurants and food in your area). I want it to be fun and cute so I decided to do some colorful animal Watercolors for those pages. Who doesn't love cute animals?

I'm also step mother to a child with dairy and nut allergies so these recipes will be allergy aware offering many nut, soy, and GF options as well. I want to fill the book with lots of information on what vegan is and how to make easy substitutions for meat, dairy and egg (ex. Ground flax and water=egg replacement). I will also talk about some good fridge and pantry staples to have in your home. It won't be just information though, it will feature many recipes with full color illustrations.
Why am I doing THE COMFORTABLE VEGAN? This is a project I feel passionate about. "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." I think that many people that are on a standard American Diet are curious to clean up what they eat and how they live. I think we are waking up as a culture and realizing that all this disease we are being surrounded with is tied to the food we are eating. I wrote this book for my family and friends that are interested in eating comforting foods that remind them of childhood classics but have none of the meat or dairy ingredients. I think that even if you are only replacing a few meals a week with these vegan versions you will see an improvement in the way you feel. My husband went vegan and lost 60 pounds. I am not interested in causing discord or debates. I just want to spread healthy vegan recipes so that people can feel good and live active full lives as long as possible. Cooking healthy food is important to me because I want to give my family the best food I can make.
Who am I? I've been creative in the kitchen my whole life. I've always enjoyed cooking for myself but I am not a trained chef or anything close. I am someone that enjoys cooking homemade meals daily instead of going out. I love cooking for others and have picked up some recipes and information along the way. When I met my husband he started taking pictures of my meals. I thought he was silly at first but then people started asking for recipes, tips and information. I decided to put together a book of recipes and information for them. I look forward to sharing my recipes with all that want them.
Risks and challenges
I plan to self publish so this project will ship as soon as I finish the illustration pages and assemble all of the incentive packages. This book will ship ASAP :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
