@Dawn, Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry that you had a hard time with the Skin Analyzer feature. The primary function of the QSun app is sun safety which designed for people with different skin types. The Skin Analyser is an extra feature for the QSun app. Please keep in mind that we are using machine learning for face recognition. It's a machine and doesn't have the accuracy of human eyes, even though its age estimation is more accurate than a lot of people. The Skin Analyser is trained based on the average people, so if the contrast between your skin and your eyes is more than average, there is a chance that it detects it as makeup. If you don't like this feature, we recommend using just sun safety features which is related to the QSun device and don't use Skin Analyzer. We are trying to improve the accuracy of it in future, but for now, we are focusing on the primary function of the app that we promised during the campaign.
Hi, I downloaded the app and tried using it to analyse my bare face, yet it keeps giving the message that makeup has been detected. I’m a pale type 1 complexion and am frustrated with the app after trying to do the analysis indoors and out. Isn’t there any way you could adjust the software taking us pale people into account, please?
@Emily. Thanks for supporting the necklace idea. Currently, our main focus is on manufacturing the QSun device. However, we're thinking about the necklace as well and talking with different jewellery makers. We'll keep you updated.
Once production is finished and sales take off, do you think that making the pendants may still be a possibility for the future? I’d love to have a necklace to put my QSun in. :)
@Levy, We'll send an update and inform you about our progress soon. We will send the survey a couple of weeks before shipping to reduce the chance that backers need to update it.
It's been nearly a month - no updates nor survey - what's up?!
The subscription is just for the Pro version with extra features. You can still use your QSun device and connect it to the QSun app even if you don't have access to the pro version.
I bet in 2 yrs theres a new product .
I’m glad I’m getting the free pro version for two years. But I doubt I would renew it. Seems like it could be a one time access fee instead for so few features that should be normal on an app like this honestly
What should i do when the 2 year subscription is finished?
@Levy, thanks for asking. We explained the QSun app in the campaign description. If you scroll down, after the short video, you can see the QSun App Pro features. You can sync the QSun App Pro with Apple Health or Google Fit to track your sun safe activity. Also, you can track your vitamin D intake getting from diet or supplement.
What are the extra features associated with having the QSun App Pro?
Please keep in mind, you don't need to subscribe to the QSun App Pro to use your QSun device. The QSun app is free. You can download it now from Apple Store and Google Play. We are offering extra features on the QSun App Pro.
@Levy, each QSun device comes with 2 years free subscription to the QSun App Pro. Backerclub members get an extra 1-year subscription.
I am a backerclub member and am wondering the notion of - subscription for an additional year - I don't find any mention of this service or a cost for such a service. Please explain?
@大一大万大吉, thanks for your kind word. Our goal is to help people to create a balance between sun protection and vitamin D production.
I think that QSun is a wonderful innovation. Simultaneous control of bad side and good side of ultraviolet rays leads to reduction of health damage. Please do your best!
We just added more F&Qs. Let's us know if you have any questions to add to the F&Q list.
I live in Phoenix, AZ, where it is sunny most of the time and the UV index is always maxed to 11. I worry a fair amount about getting too much exposure when hiking and upping my chances of skin cancer, so for me this is a no-brainer!
@Rylin, thanks for your comment. Sun safety is essential, particularly for people with a sun allergy. One of our founders suffers from a sun allergy as well, and it was one of her motivations for creating QSun. You might be interested in one of our blog posts about sun allergy. https://qsun.co/sun-allergy-sunburn-whats-difference/
@Ian, It's very rewarding getting an order from our previous user. Thanks for backing us just a couple of hours after launching the campaign. Our support team will contact you regarding your QTemp device.
I love the concept of this. I have a sun allergy. Before it was a guessing game of when my allergy would surface (anywhere from 10 min to 1 hour). This will help me track how much sun I can tolerate.
Can’t wait to receive my new QSun. My first gen stopes working last November (guess the warranty is over).
Download the app from App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/qsun-sun-safety-advisor/id1117106666
Download the app from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details…
@Jay, you will have access to the app for free even now. The subscription is just for the Pro features. You can download the app now and use it for free. When you get your device, then you can pair it and track your sun exposure.
So after two years, we would need to pay for subscription service for the app? Yearly?
@Seijij, as you mentioned, vitamin D deficiency is very common. We designed QSun to create a balance between sun protection and vitamin D production.
@Robert, thanks for your comment. We're glad that QTemp could help you to be sunburn free. Thanks for supporting us again. It would be great if we can email you later and learn more about your experience with QTemp. Your feedback as a user is very valuable for us.
I purchased the QTemp and since I used it I have not had a sun burn. The old unit would go through batteries quickly but that was a small price to pay for no sunburns. I purchased the unit for my daughter so she can take advantage.
