Dreams of Typhon is a card game about exploration, cooperation, and a desperate fight for survival. Players take on the role of one of six Survivors that have been trapped on the behemoth space station Typhon as they frantically fight for their lives. Each time the game is played the layout of Typhon Station changes. Players draw Room Cards to represent their journey through the station. Rooms have various events that could prove to be fatal and may contain a deadly monster known as an Anomaly. However, some rooms contain precious Gear that can be used to level up Survivors to increase their chance of survival.
Everything you need to play Dreams of Typhon comes in one portable box that is about the size of two decks of playing cards.
120 card deck with:
- 40 Room Cards
- 6 Character Cards
- 24 Gear Cards
- 30 Anomaly Cards
- 20 Quest Cards
1 12-sided die
1 sheet of punch-out tokens
1 Page Rule Sheet
It’s our goal to create and produce a fun and fast-paced type of tabletop game that doesn’t require clunky boxes, long set-ups, or overly complicated rules. Dreams of Typhon is a straightforward, portable, and replayable game that offers a new experience every time you play.
How to Play:
This video shows the basic mechanics behind Dreams of Typhon in a six-turn sequence of play.
The diligent Ekdronaut is incredibly balanced and can assist in most areas. He shines in combat with the ability to make extra attacks and shrug off damage. Before Typhon Station fell to its current state he served as a security officer and has begun to put those skills to use in a desperate attempt to escape the station before he is slain.
The Delphinite might be a natural-born or military experiment. No one knows and no one has the guts to ask her. With her overwhelming spirit she is the only Survivor with the ability to rip enemies apart without lifting a finger.
The Vent Vixen is a dangerous creature. With her siren-like call she lures unsuspecting victims to a gruesome end. A danger to creatures with weak wills the Vent Vixen’s preferred method of hunting is to lure a victim to an open grate and let them plummet.
A writhing mass of star-stuff and malice, the Twinkling Terror is beautiful to behold. That is until you realize its true form. A hulking beast of twisting matter, the Twinkling Terror opens its sun-like eyes before rapidly advancing on its prey.
A useful piece of Gear, the Ignition Saw is perfect for cutting through flesh, bones, carapace, ooze, metal, or ectoplasm! Don’t wander Typhon Station without one!
An artifact of a long dead god, the Relic of Im'Rahz draws on the physical and spiritual fortitude of those who grant it. Even the most dangerous Anomaly seems to be afraid of this strange container which begs the question, is it safe to carry this?
Not everything on Typhon Station has run out of juice. Derelict but still functioning defense systems can massacre a group of hapless Survivors just as easily as a beast from beyond sanity.
As generators fail and walls are destroyed the condition of Typhon Station has begun to degrade. All manner of crazed survivors and dangerous anomalies might use a room with flickering lights as their hunting ground.
Some places on Typhon Station are still a safe haven for the unfortunate few who are still living. Places like a functional medical bay are a life saving asset when stumbled upon. Survivors can mend their wounds here before continuing on to their final objective. The question is, how long will a place like this remain safe?
One of the optional missions, the Ritual of Masks was but one of the disasters that brought this damnation onto Typhon Station. A cult dedicated to the worship of a foul, otherworldly entity attempted a complex ritual to summon an unkillable avatar of their "god" and succeeded just as the Survivors stumble upon their ritual. Now the avatar perpetually stalks the Survivors and its thirst will not be slaked until each of them lays dead.
1. Abandoned Armory ($4,000): Sometimes all a survivor needs is a little extra firepower or an extra inch of armor between their heart and the claws of a creature from beyond the stars. Lucky for you, this Stretch Goal adds 6 new Gear cards to help the survivors… survive.
2. Anomaly Surge ($5,500): What good is all of that new Gear without new Anomalies to test it out on? We will add 6 new, horrifying, Anomalies make up this expansion and they are ready to put down any uppity Survivors they encounter.
3. Abandoned Wing ($7,000): Of course, Typhon doesn’t mean small. With the Abandoned Wing stretch goal we’ll add additional rooms as well as add new room types to Typhon! Survivors will have to trudge through flooded chambers, the nest of an Anomaly, and other nightmarish rooms to survive.
4. Mission Control ($9,000): Sometimes just surviving on Typhon Station isn’t enough. Thankfully radio silence has been broken and you’ve got a slew of new Missions to perform. We’ll add TWO new Missions to the Kickstarter games! Each Mission contains 5 new cards! That’s 10 new cards for every single game!
These cards will arrive in a separate container. They are only bundled with Dreams of Typhon during the Kickstarter! Anyone wishing to obtain these cards after the Kickstarter must buy them separately.
Risks and challenges
We’re a small group of people that are passionate about gaming. As much as we would love to dedicate all of our time and effort into working on the game every minute of every day we simply can’t. This doesn’t mean that we don’t dedicate every second of our free time to working on this. Mike spends almost all of his free time drawing sketches for the cards or editing the layout and Kyle is constantly polishing and testing the rules and rewriting the text of each card.
However, we are both extremely dedicated and would pour all of our available free time into creating a high quality product in a timely manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
