Happy Holidays!

Posted by Conatus Creative (Creator)

Hello everyone,

We hope everyone had a fulfilling and relaxing holiday. We're back to work here and looking forward to moving mountains in 2014. It's release year!

To that effect, we're turning towards our physical rewards, to get them finalized and shipped out to you as early as we can. This accomplishes both getting you some cool rewards to tide you over to release day, but also to help us batch our work and leave as much quality time for game production as possible.

We have two designs and two color options ready for the shirts. At this point, you should be able to choose between either Bannon Rudis' English design or Nina Matsumoto's Japanese design, in blue or red decal colors. Remember to update your selections on BackerKit so you get the shirts you want. We've updated variant selections to include the new color option. By default, all current selections are for the blue decal.

Cover design and posters

Unfortunately, we're a bit behind schedule on the cover design front, but we're confident we'll have these ready for you in short order. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy a glimpse of this nearly complete Japanese cover design by Nina Matsumoto!

Once the English version is complete, we'll unleash the specialist task force to get posters printed and shipped to you, after we give you a bit more time to make up your mind, of course.

Here's to a great new year!

@Avedon The forum link is The backerkit link is --- and I think the invite link issue is fixed but I'll follow up with you privately about that ^DC

    2. Avedon Arcade on

@Conatus Creative I can log into the backerkit but I don't know how or where to log into the forums. Any one can advise?

    3. Avedon Arcade on

I guess my comment didn't stick but I still haven't had a link to forums. Also where can I go to log in again to set my style types for my shirts and such? I want to make sure I get that all set.

Great shirt/cover designs. I love all the t-shirt emblems, but I think the big grin of the Japanese alligator sealed the deal for me.

@Emmalee Posters don't have color variations, for that it's "English" or "Japanese", and we'll roll those out when the English poster design is completed.

    6. Emmalee Goulette

Um, now I've got a choice for t shirt color, but not poster color?

    7. Johnny Johnson on

Mmm, those t-shirt designs are so good. Love it.

    8. Conatus Creative Creator on

@Emmalee Thanks for the head's up! We added the add-on variants but forgot the survey question. It should appear now. Let us know if you run into anything else

I set my stuff in backerit a few days ago, but I"m not seeing the update for the color variants...I definately want to get one of my choices for the t-shirt or the poster in red...

    10. Justin Holmes on

I believe the word I was looking for there was tentative. How embarrassing.

    11. Justin Holmes on

Awesome! Consider me getting the Japanese shirt. That logo is too good.

Also, thrilled to hear the (prohibitive and only incremental) good news on the Wii U front!

    12. BladedFalcon on

@Conatus Creative: Hah, more than fair enough ^^ I brought it up mianly because IIRC in the main kickstarter page there were 9 character portraits, and this poster had 8 which is why I found it off. But if there's even MORE characters, then that's super understandable (:

Anyway, not a criticism at all, just a random thought XD Loving what you guys been doing so far, and wish you all the best this year and with all your endeavors! Keep rocking on!

@Jesse Thanks for the huge compliment! It's like working with rare books, and we appreciate that you understand how much of a balancing act it can be.

    14. Conatus Creative Creator on

@Mario We are licensed WiiU developers, but that's only a small part of the story and we don't have any good news on that front yet, but we're working on it.

@Wilson You bet, the Japanese translation is written in the infinitive but the Latin is not, so you get "punch, kick, barf" vs. "to punch, to kick, to barf", which was a suggestion we incorporated from design feedback. You're not rusty at all.

    16. Mario S. Borbon on

still waiting to hear some WIIU news from these guys

    17. Wilson Bilkovich on

Wouldn't that be "pugnare" and "iactare", based on what the Japanese version has for the motto? (three infinitives?)
My latin is super rusty, so maybe I'm missing what you were intending to say. :)

    18. Jesse Dylan Watson on

Just realized the design I prefer is the Japanese design, duh! That's what I get for not reading carefully.

    19. Jesse Dylan Watson on

I love that poster design x1000. I love the school emblem designs, too, with my preference falling on the goofier one with the smiling alligator (crocodile?) and the more embellished, sillier weapons. Love it. I don't know if I've ever seen a Western company so faithfully work with Japanese source material while still putting their own spin on it. If someone had told me a few years ago that a Canadian company would be making a Kunio-kun game (a River City Ransom game, no less!), I'd have groaned, but from the beginning of this project, you guys have had my utmost confidence.

    20. Conatus Creative Creator on

@BladedFalcon If we put every character in our designs on the cover it would be a sea of faces and not much else :) It's mostly for real estate.

    21. BladedFalcon on

Heh, amusing how even though they are conceptually the same, the North American version of the decal looks much more serious and "realistic" while japan's looks way happier, wackier and with exaggerated proportions XD Intentional or unintentional commentary on the difference between the two cultures, perhaps? :P

Also, loving how that poster looks... but isn't it missing one character? The redheaded girl if I remember correctly. Or is she meant to be a secret character trough and trough?

    22. Conatus Creative Creator on

@Rex It's taking so long because we're trying to duplicate those jagged lines ;) We had a delay but we're back on track and really excited about the English cover, which will also serve double duty as the box art.

    23. Rex Warden on

Dat pomp. Looking as sweet as the game itself. As long as we don't end up with a western poster/box illustration that looks like the GBA RCR box art, we're speeding down sweet street.
