Backers, thank you for your sustaining belief in the project, your patience, and above all, your support to bring this project to life. It literally would not exist without you.

We'll be quite busy as the project transitions to its newer, more public life. However, we know we have more to do to bring the campaign to a successful close.

Here's what you can expect:

Steam Keys + DLC

We're working to release backer keys as soon as possible by email. We'll release the base game keys first, then distribute DLC keys for backer perks at the appropriate levels.

Non-Steam Distribution

Unfortunately, we have not found a platform home yet for non-Steam copies, but we'll be focusing on this to get them out as soon as humanly possible. While we strongly prefer a solution that provides automatic updates to backers, we'll resort to hosting the game ourselves if we can't find a viable solution in short order.

Digital manual / comic / wallpaper / map / OST

We're still working on finalizing these, we'll let you know as soon as they're ready. We will distribute these through the backer preview portal, where we also intend to store your Steam key as a reminder. This way all of your digital products are in one place.

Physical CD / Physical OST

We will produce these discs as soon as the "gold master build" is stable on Steam, and will send another announcement when they ship.

Modding

When we are through the launch gauntlet we will start clean ups and distributing information for modding, most likely via the Backer Forums before the general public.

We hope you love River City Ransom: Underground, we made it for you!

I did not receive my backer key, or I didn't notice the email. How do I get the email sent (or re-sent) to me?

I got my key so thank you!

Now any work on the Psychical copies?

    4. Conatus Creative Creator on March 2, 2017

Abel GC- message me at kickstarter@conatuscreative.com if you still don't have a key. Thanks!

Update: Got my steam key. I had to really scratch my head and remember all the possible emails I might have used in the past but if you're patient, kind, and willing to work with Conatus Creative, they will try to find where those keys were sent to.

    6. labradoreo on March 2, 2017

I just sent an email out requesting a key. I do remember changing my email address for Kickstarter. Looking forward to a response back.

    7. Conatus Creative Creator on March 1, 2017

Anyone still missing a key, message me at kickstarter@conatuscreative.com with your backer name and I'll fix it. Thanks, Sarah

where's my code? we should have gotten these BEFORE it went up on steam for everyone else.

    9. Conatus Creative Creator on February 28, 2017

Main issues have been that backers either backed under an old email address they no longer use currently and they didn't update it, or they are beta backers and thought the key would be emailed when they can access through beta. If you need to update your email, message me at kickstarter@conatuscreative.com. Thanks! Sarah

    10. Conatus Creative Creator on February 28, 2017

Abel GC- you're a beta backer, so if you accessed beta, you can now play the complete game through it. Beta backers didn't need keys emailed to them. Thanks, Sarah

    11. Hector G on February 28, 2017

I was told prior to someone personally sending me a key that their records indicated I had been sent one. CC seems to think keys have been sent all out but I assure you I had not received it and kept my email folders empty waiting in anticipation so it seems issues haven't been all smoothed out. I can only hope the team is putting priority on backers and hope to play with you all soon!

    12. Ryan Leslie on February 28, 2017

WOW guys, I mean really? the games available for sale, but we haven't gotten our keys?! This is really bad form!

    13. Abel GC on February 28, 2017

Haven't received anything at all here :/

    14. Tom on February 28, 2017

I received a key for one of the DLC packs, but still not the actual game :(

    15. Devon Murphy on February 28, 2017

      Nothing for me as well.

    16. Jonathan Anderson on February 28, 2017

still waiting on the 2 pack, KamikaziKarl, if the delay between 1 pack and 2 pack has any bearing on the delay between 2 pack and 4... you may have a while : /

    17. Oscar on February 28, 2017

Was reviewing my emails... I was never sent a back rewards survey. I did get and use invites to the beta. Hopefully this information helps?

    18. Oscar on February 28, 2017

Still haven't gotten a key. Can I get some help with this please?

    19. Justin Holmes on February 28, 2017

      Still nothing for me, either.

    20. Blackmore on February 28, 2017

Also, just tried it, you son't need Steam open to launch the game.

bought the 4 pack... still no keys. Great job releasing the final product, but I have to agree with the general sentiment, ensure backer delivery before public release.

Played for like an hour last night, really good first impression! Its what I wanted out of a RiverCity Ransom game! Played the original as a kid and looking forward to giving multiplayer a go!

    24. WingedRobot on February 28, 2017

Got my key already and gave it a try last night! I had major performance issues, but I checked the steam discussions and found the pinned post. After forcing my Nvidia panel to select my dedicated card for the game and restarting, the issue went away entirely and the game is now running smooth as butter! If you're looking for a DRM-free release platform, I would suggest either GOG or Humble. Both are good and both provide DRM-free distribution.

    25. Johan Linderholm on February 28, 2017

First comments 15 hours ago. I still haven't received my key. Don't make your backers wait longer than the rest of our world. Soon I have to buy an extra copy from Steam while waiting.

    26. Blackmore on February 28, 2017

I've seen lots of backed games here on Kickstarter let the general public get the game first. After all, now we're into the profit section of the game. We, the backers, paid for the R&D & the hours of work programming & testing & who knows what deal had to be cut with the current license holder (remember that little foible?)since we never heard much about that detail. Is time get paid, yo. Can't begrudge them that. Played about 30 minutes. Seems to be pretty good. When it comes to stuff on Kickstarter, be thankful we got anything at all. Creators can walk away with the cash & while giving you the middle finger if they want to & Kickstarter just counts their cut & nods.

This is so awesome you guys.

I have seen so many Kickstarter projects take longer and then disappear. The project owner just abandon's the project. I am elated to see you guys bring this to completion. I can't wait to play with my family. We grew up on the original game :)

    28. Timothy Heywood on February 28, 2017

      Congrats on finally releasing!
what started in september 2013 to release date today, March 1st 2017.

from the various photos, videos and such over the course of those years it has been great to see, and then the beta launched! (Jan 17) thus the game was in public beta state for a whole 6 Weeks of beta. (respectfully windows only)

i've gotta say, quite the triumph team.

whelp, i got my weapons DLC code only 30 minutes ago, with the rest of the content backed coming soon.
(which is ironically the stuff i wanted) so bit more waiting.

now its just a case of waiting for the game key to run the dlc. (which as i read the comments there was a glitch) so more waiting there.

      bravo team.

side note, i am slightly annoyed people who purchased this game get to play it before backers, but.. errors happen i guess.

Was a $20 CAD backer ($15.17 USD back in 2013). Sitting at 07:38 EST on the 28th, still no code. And insult to injury they did a Steam release mini-sale 20% off, for $15.99 USD. So people are paying less than a dollar more on release for a game I backed four years ago, while I sit by unable to play without a key?

Of all the balls to drop, you shouldn't drop the most important one. The "make sure the people who initially funded the game get access before the public does" ball. I can understand development, testing, re-testing, bug searches, fixes, and the hiccup from the IP name changing ownership when the project was well underway but honestly amidst it all you know of at least ensured the backers got their keys first.

I am not angry I just wanted to say all day today while I was working I was super excited to get home to play this game. My girlfriend was trying to get me to go to bed early since we have a lot to do tomorrow and I told her "I waited nearly 4 years for this game I need this in my life right now! I am to excited to sleep" I wanted to give my friends the game since I bought the 4 pack. I have had this day planned out for 4 years that we would all be available to play this on launch. Yet here I am the biggest RCR fan and it's 1:58 of February 28th and I still don't have the Item I backed...How much longer? Can someone give me a time span so I can stop checking my email and waiting for it like a sad puppy?

    35. Gonchi on February 28, 2017

Please, please, please don't make the mistake of requiring Steam for the Physical CD.

Got a Steam key, but I'll be waiting for the DRM-free copy - since that's what I backed...
      Well done nonetheless.

    39. Conatus Creative Creator on February 27, 2017

Single keys went out first, to be followed soon by 2packs, then 4packs, then DLCs. -Sarah

    40. Hector G on February 27, 2017

Still waiting on mine. Sadly won't get to play tonight and sucks knowing public and reviewers got to not only enjoy it but they also saved more than half what I paid just for a comic book I didn't even get yet. I only hope it will be waiting in my inbox when I get home from work tomorrow.
Thanks for the hard work and glad it sounds like the game is doing well.

Got my key, but I know better now, don't back up video game projects ~ after having my money straight up stolen by the Mighty No. 9 team and Skullgirls, this unjust delay (glitch or whatever) brought back on me all those bad feelings.

    44. Paul Zakrzewski on February 27, 2017

How are you guys getting the keys? I might have been using a different email address back then.

    45. Blue-demon on February 27, 2017

      @Conatus

Just got my key, though i believe the KS community is right on the key distribution, let me at least say Thank you for developing the game, keeping your promise and i hope to see future projects from you guys.

I got my key, but I didn't get the second key I paid for. Still waiting.

    48. Conatus Creative Creator on February 27, 2017

We definitely understand your frustrations, all the backers deserved the key first thing and the team was equally upset by the unexpected delay. Thank you though, Erik Pope, for the moment of comic relief :)
