My name is Coleman Engle, and this summer I applied for a comics residency at la Maison des Auteurs, in Angoulême, France. I heard about la Maison des Auteurs after visiting the studios while traveling abroad last year with my school, and upon graduating, I submitted my very own project to them!
Miraculously, my project was approved! It is a children's comic called, V'Ger: Intergalactic Delivery Boy (his namesake an obvious nod to Spock's discovery of Voyager 6 (-: ). V'ger: Intergalactic Delivery Boy is an all ages comic about an alien who has to travel around our solar system, hopping from planet to planet, to save his kidnapped sister, who is on Pluto. He travels with a new type of truck that his company gives him, that is able to breakdown numerous commonplace things to use as fuel. So on each planet, he meets a new alien, helps them solve a problem, and then uses fuel from that planet to get to the next planet! V'Ger makes a few new pals along the way, and learns the true meaning of friendship.
La Maison des Auteurs has accepted my stay from February 2011, to September 2011 to complete V'Ger. With V'Ger being 76 pages, 10 pages a month seems very doable in this wonderfully creative and fantastic environment.
This career and life changing experience can be made possible with the help of this Kickstarter. The funds will help tremendously with getting to France, as well as purchasing supplies upon arrival, and getting V'Ger to his sister on Pluto!
V'Ger: Intergalactic Delivery Boy is for anyone who loves science fiction, loves family and friendship, or has ever wondered what's beyond the stars (hint: dedicated aliens trying to be heroes!)!
