Help raise enough funding to build machines that can manufacture the Thimble Slide by the thousands. For the last three years manufacturing of the Thimble Slide has been by hand. Attempts have been made to mass produce the slide by a workshop of people but it became clear that the quantities needed for major distribution worldwide could not be filled by hand-production.
Machine Manufacturing In The U.S.A.:
After a long search, a company that builds manufacturing machines has been chosen and is located in the U.S.A.. I have already met with them, agreed on a manufacturing plan, and have contracted them to begin building the machines (tooling) needed. My company, DHW Enterprises, is a small company based in Los Angeles; and the machine company is based there too. I'm proud to say that manufacturing of the slide will remain in the United States; support at least eight jobs here; and the packaging and slide itself will bear the stamp: "Made In U.S.A.."
Why Funding Help Is Needed:
My company, DHW Enterprises, is a small company which up to now has been my business entity for my music. As such, the annual income is far below what banks require for a business loan and the amount needed to build the machines is beyond my personal income. So, I'm seeking help from the public to bring this product to the world; to help with funding, be a part of the history of the Thimble Slide, and light the ignition that will launch this product!
Risks and challenges
At this point I see no risks. I say that because I've already been manufacturing and selling the Thimble Slide for three years. The design and operational difficulties have been settled. With machine manufacturing -- we're simply increasing the volume of inventory that can be made. I am dedicated to manufacturing the Thimble Slide for the long-term. It is my life's dedication at this point.
The last major challenge I can see after manufacturing is obtaining major distribution. Currently, I sell the slide directly through my website and online stores that funnel through my sales channel. I cannot seek distribution until I can assure a distributor of a plentiful stream of inventory from as little as a few hundred units per week to several thousand. I've already spoken with several distributors -- that's how I know these numbers; and, they are interested should I be able to deliver. If distribution is not obtained --- the challenge becomes establishing my own direct sales to stores. Either way the challenges will be met either quickly or over time. My experience in the music industry, three years selling the slide, friendships with other product manufacturers all give me insight and knowledge that come into play in meeting challenges related to the slide. I am also a member of NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) and so I have access to trade shows where I can showcase the slide and meet with distributors and store owners. I will achieve my distribution goals; it's only a matter of time.
