I'll confirm right now that the laser etched dice will be symbols not text. =D
@Nicholas - That's a good idea about the dice. Gamelyn already announced on the main page that those dice will be laser-etched instead of stickered, and I think it would make a lot of sense to etch the gold, wood, etc. symbols into the dice rather than the English words.
Having more thematic pieces would be nice. Instead of generic token for airship damage, include fire shaped wooden pieces. Have each combat victory token unique for that faction, like a mini version of their airship. Try and include pictures of the resources on the dice instead of words for a lower language barrier. Lastly, having a crest for each faction would be a neat addition.
If a molded box insert turns out to be too expensive (many people ditch them anyway), how about simply including enough baggies to "bag & tag" the components?
Also, card sleeves as a stretch goal are always nice to have.
lol yeah, Jeff was gonna go for either this or Battle Merchants, so I got to take Battle Merchants as my franchise.
I'm glad you're optimistic about the FB campaign. :-)
Glad you like the ideas for the fantasy gaming figures and the stars.
Box insert is a great idea, but please make room for sleeved cards. So many times, I cant use my box inserts because I sleeve game cards and they often don't fit back into the insert when sleeved.
LOL! Jeff, the opportunist! =D
The FB goal is going great! I believe we will hit it for sure! We've already jumped about 100 likes!
I hadn't thought about bringing the Fantasy Gaming Figures into Fantasy Frontier but that is an interesting idea. Hmm...
VP markers as Stars is a great idea too!
:-P Michael - I picked you too! It just sucks that Jeff got to go first this episode and franchised you. But anyway, I hope it helps spread the word!
I really like the idea of upgrading the euro cards as I do not like such small sized cards. However, I've never seen anyone successful with a FB like campaign so hopefully you'll consider adding it as a normal funding stretch goal if the FB like campaign isn't going well.
I also love the idea of custom meeples for each player. Not sure what you'd do, but considering your experience with the fantasy meeple project, I'm sure you can come up with 4 unique figures. Especially if you do want to bring more fantasy into Fantasy Frontier, you could use 4 shapes you've already made! I'd suggest the kobold, amazon, knight and dwarf. If you do a fifth player, add in the halfling. This would add even more character to the game and really ramp up the fantasy exploration feel.
The box insert is a good idea too. I'm not a fan of stickers, but obviously some people would like them.
Generally, I like component upgrades, so someone on the comments page suggested upgrading the damage markers to flame shapes and I love that idea. You could also upgrade the combat victory point markers to stars.
That's all I can think of for now.
I am not sure if this is even possable cost wise but what about doing a goal where the meeples get upgraded to custom meeples for each player. So instead of all being the same cut they have diffrent features. I saw on kickstarter a while back a project doing custom cut meeples to diffrent shapes like orcs and elfs.
I agree, a box insert is a great idea!
I second the esteemed R. John Powers, box slots would be great. Especially for things like the hex tiles, similar to what Settlers of Catan has.
Depending on what you mean when you are adding the white interior liner, but I love the boxes that have slots specifically for certain things. Makes setting the game up so much easier. I'm sure that also means a lot more time spent planning out the layout to make sure it all fits and a more complicated casting process of the plastic insert.
That's a great idea and not too expensive. I like it. =)
How about getting some more fantastic artwork done, as stickers for each of the airship meeples?
