WOULD YOU LIKE SOME COFFEE...CREATURES?
Greetings! I am Cody Vrosh and I love to drink coffee and draw creatures, and we all want to combine the things we love in life, right? So I started using coffee in my creature drawing process, along with watercolor and pen. I loved that so much, I continued doing it until I had a pretty large collection of coffee paintings. Now I want to collect all my Coffee Creature paintings in a hardcover book that, I'm hoping, you will love.
HERE'S THE DETAILS:
Coffee Creatures will be a 9x12" full color hardcover book. At this point, I have a little over 50 completed paintings that will be included. I would love to give you an exact page count, but I'm going to continue making art for it until the moment before it's sent to the printer. It will be 60 pages at minimum. Here are some of the images that will be in the book...
Also included will be a few short stories about specific paintings. I always have little stories rattling around my head while I paint the creatures, and some of them require me to write them down.
LET'S GET THIS BOOK MADE!
Every dollar contributed to this campaign goes directly towards printing costs for the book. It ain't cheap when you add all the costs up, but the finished product will look beautiful. And who doesn't love a beautiful book?
LET'S TALK REWARDS!
I wish I could send every contributor a cookie, you all are incredible and deserve cookies (they go great with coffee). In place of cookies, I hope you will enjoy art. At the Latte level, for 7 bucks you can get a signed 5x7" mini-print of my piece "Betta Test Pilot".
There are also 11x14" prints at the Espresso level, and with the Triple Shot, you can get all three. They are printed on Premium Matte paper, 97 brightness for maximum color depth and fade resistant for up to 72 years. There is a 1" border around the artwork for framing. Each print will come signed on the bottom. Here are your three choices:
$5k - GOAL REACHED! - 5 inch die-cut sticker of “Professor Teeth" to all backers pledging $25 and above.
$6k - GOAL REACHED! - 5x7” Mini-print of "The Bear Who Dreams of Candy but Speaks of Death" to all backers pledging $25 and above.
$7K - GOAL REACHED! - The book will get an upgrade to Spot UV on the cover (spot UV is when certain elements have a glossy finish on a matte cover, it looks very neat). This goal will also afford a paper upgrade, basically the more we can crowd fund, the thicker and fancier the paper is going to get.
$8k - GOAL REACHED! - 5x7” Mini-print of "The Striped Ringleader" to all backers pledging $25 and above. This print is in addition to the 5k goal Sticker and the 6k goal mini-print, so you’ll get a 2 print set and a sticker.
LET'S GET ORIGINAL!
You're interested in original art, eh? Many of the pieces from the book have already sold, but some of the newest pieces I have been keeping just for you Kickstarters. They are all painted with coffee, watercolor, and technical pen on watercolor paper. Each purchase of original art comes with a copy of the book. Here are some of the available pieces:
LET'S GET PERSONAL!
Do you have something in mind that you'd like to see become a Coffee Creature? Do you feel like there's not enough art featuring robotic squirrel monkeys on the shoulder of a raven haired flapper girl? Maybe you'd like to see an intergalactic seahorse wrapped around the ear of an alien princess? I can do these things for you. At the Coffee Art - Custom level, you get an original painting by me, featuring characters of your choosing. Typically this would mean some kind of creature with some kind of girl, as that's my specialty. But I can also draw boys/men, or you can pick 2 creatures, it's pretty open. The basic guidelines are that it's 2 characters painted in coffee and watercolors, detailed in pen on an 11x14" sheet of watercolor paper. Depending on the content, it might just end up in the book too!
LET'S GO GET SOME COFFEE
In closing, I'd just like to thank y'all one last time. For checking out my project, for contributing, for being awesome. Cheers!
Risks and challenges
There shouldn't be any hang-ups. The book is almost completely finished, and while I'm continuing to work on new pieces, everything should be completed soon after the close of the Kickstarter campaign. On the distant chance that I feel the book isn't quite complete and it is slightly delayed, that will only result in more pieces in the book, making it more awesome for you. The only possible delays after that would be delivery time on a palette of books, but I've figured that in to the estimated delivery time, so we should be all good there.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
