At Co-parent safely our ambition is to ensure all children can have secure and safe contact between their parents.
With 1 in 5 children living in a household where domestic abuse occurs it can be an emotionally stressful time for the children involved when a parent flees and can quickly affect their well-being.
The situation can soon become complicated and difficult to manage - Imagine one day you’ve built up the courage to leave your abuser then you get a request from your abuser (the parent of your child) stating they want contact. The abuse begins again via phone calls and text messages and you're back in the cycle again. You're forced via the courts into speaking to the other parent in order to promote the contact they have requested. What do you do, you don't feel safe?
With the co-parent safely app you can communicate with your ex-partner in a safe and controlled way. The app does not allow for personal information to be shared, i.e, phone numbers, bank details etc. It also has a filter that will not allow abusive language to be sent/received. The app will allow for effective communication to take place which is solely in the child's best interest taking away any conflict and additionally making you feel safe again. Clear structured arrangements can be made, with clear parenting plans which sets out the expectations of each parent.
As the company expands, it's plan will be to invest 40% of its profit in to supporting victims and children of domestic abuse. By re-investing company profits we will be looking to educate children about healthy relationships, helping them to understand that this behaviour should not be normalised and everyone has a right to feel safe and secure.
Risks and challenges
If funding isn’t received the app will not be developed, therefore many victims continue to live with the abuse.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
