The LumaCast is a hand-held area-of-effects template projector. Determine area-of-effect easily with no need to move a game piece.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sat, June 1 2019 2:09 PM UTC +00:00.
"I didn't ask how big the room is, I said 'I cast Fireball!'"
Have you ever been frustrated figuring out the area of effect for a spell? Argued over the size of a fireball? Knocked over minis using an area-of-effect template? After a particularly arduous campaign the idea of the LumaCast was born. We wanted a way to easily determine the area of effects that didn't involve acrylic templates, coat hangers, or other argument inducing methods. We wanted a single, hand-held, solution that was easy to switch between templates.
The LumaCast is the culmination of two years of dreaming, designing, prototyping and most of all hard work. We are patent-pending and ready to release LumaCast to the world.
LumaCast is held approximately 1 foot above the gaming surface to project Area of Effects imagery. The wheel can be easily rotated between 5 different images. Stretch goals will include more discs which can simply be swapped out in the LumaCast.
Who We Are
We are C&C Woodsmith, the creators of the Character Crate, Minimalist Miniatures, and other tabletop gaming accessories. Every product we create is made to make game night about the game.
We are working on some exciting stretch goals. Additional filter designs, a registration system to work on non-grid based games. We will start releasing the stretch goals once we hit our funding goal. It's going to be exciting!

Why a wooden storage vault?
C&C Woodsmith was founded by creating high-end wooden gaming accessories. The LumaCast deserves a beautiful container to protect the product and the projection wheels. That's what we do. If we could we'd make the LumaCast out of wood also.
We are working with two other companies to help bring this idea to life.
First, Blacksmith International. "Blacksmith International makes sourcing products easy, with decades of experience, over 1,500 vetted global Factories, and 300 product categories—they have the boots on the ground in country and act as your outsourced team in developing, sourcing and getting your product to market. On Time. On Budget. Without Defects."
Second we have brought in CrowdOx to assist with the post-campaign management, to ensure that you get exactly what you want. We have used other post-campaign services in the past. But we have recently moved to Crowdox because of their fantastic customer service and user-friendly platform.
We have been working with some fantastic people at these two companies, and are grateful for their support.
Risks and challenges
This project is outside our usual wheelhouse. It will be our first time working with a production facilities in China. Knowing that this will be difficult we have retained the services of Blacksmith International described above.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
