Commencing Countdown, ELITE Soldiers!

When a titanic Proxie vessel arrived on Earth, its bulkheads yawned open and vomited a host of new things to torment the defenders of Project: ELITE. It unleashed voracious swarms of Janusian wasps the soldiers call ‘Fliers’ to pick the flesh from human bones, along with a quartet of alien bosses. Worst yet, ever since its arrival, the Proxies have started to kidnap ELITE members, imprisoning them on the alienship. There’s no telling what horrors they face and we can’t afford to allow Proxies any more experimentation. Squad, welcome to the Rescue Mission!

The Alienship Rescue expansion not only brings new Bosses and a new Swarm but also introduces a whole new Modular Board system, a brand new Mission that sets players to rescue ELITE members, and a 5-Mission Campaign that will challenge the steeliest of nerves!

The Alienship Rescue Expansion comes with:

  • 4 Boss figures
  • 15 Swarm figures
  • 4 Boss cards
  • 1 Swarm Stat card
  • 10 Swarm Spawn cards
  • 7 double-sided Game Tiles
  • 15 tokens
  • 1 Rulebook

Backers who get the Alienship Rescue expansion during this Kickstarter campaign will also get the Kickstarter Exclusive Heroine Sarah Morgan, including her figure and dashboard!

As a Med-Tech, Sarah brings to her teammates a much appreciated ability to treat their wounds in the field. After Locking some dice, Sarah can remove Damage from herself or from allies within range 2 of her.

The Alienship Rescue expansion brings a design partnership between Konstantinos Kokkinis and Sotirios Tsantilas from Artipia Games and the CMON team, who came together to create some exciting new elements! “A lot of fans have been asking us to add a campaign mode to the game, which has been added in this expansion,” explained Tsantilas. “With Alienship Rescue we, Earthlings, finally get to invade the Crashed Alienship and take the fight to new Proxie Aliens. This means brand-new, claustrophobic environments and a completely new Mission.”

Brought about by the Proxie vessel, Fliers are a new type of Swarm that can be used either when playing with the Core box or with the Alienship Rescue Expansion. As a flying species, Fliers can’t be targeted by adjacent ELITEs, move 1 space during their Activation, and don’t push figures. Rather, they fly over occupied Spaces and have a nasty tendency to swarm the base if not handled quickly!

Cyclop is a truly massive menace for ELITEs around him. He has a whopping 8 Health, and during his activation he rolls to attack adjacent ELITEs, dealing damage and pushing them back on Hits.

The Faun and Worm duo brings their agile movement to the field and are able to hit all ELITEs within range 2, draining their life and recovering Health for each damage dealt.

Having Sargo in battle is a dangerous affair: he shoots ELITEs within range 3 dealing automatic damage, and moving afterwards a number of Spaces equal to the damage he’s dealt.

While Dreadspit is infamous for spewing his Acid tokens across the battlefield as he moves, Belchers are actually expert at firing them at range! They may be killed more quickly than most Bosses, but they move quickly and can make the area around the ELITEs become filled with caustic acid.

When playing with the Alienship Rescue expansion players have the option to construct the map board with the included modular tiles instead of the maps of the core box. The modular tiles feature the inside of a massive alienship that the Project: ELITE team members can infiltrate. The gameplay experience takes on a whole new twist with intense close-quarters combat and electronic doors! The expansion comes with 3 types of game tiles, and each mission indicates how they’re set up.

  • 1x Main Tile: a double-sided 4x4 tile that’s used as the Starting Area and has 3 connection points;
  • 3x Room Tiles: double-sided 3x5 tiles that represent the main compartments of the alienship and where Objective tokens are usually placed;
  • 3x Corridor Tiles: double-sided 2x5 tiles that connect rooms in the ship and house the DNA-scanning doors Doors are randomly assigned to door slots in the beginning of the Mission. They have Locking dice slots that indicate which Action dice must be placed on them in order to open them. Once opened, they remain so until the end of the Round, when they automatically close again and any Action dice on them are returned to owning player. Additionally, 2 door types require instead that players deal damage to them before they’re opened!

The Alienship Rescue expansion brings a new Mission, Rescue, that can be played either with the modular Game Tiles introduced by the expansion itself or with the map boards of the core box. As the ELITE members place dice and fill the Rescue tokens, the hostages are found, represented by having the Hostage tokens added to the board. Hostage tokens can be moved by players who spend 2 Move results and they must reach the main tile in order for the Mission to succeed. Hostages they can’t attack, are targeted by Aliens normally, and can only suffer 2 Damage before they’re killed, which ends the Mission in defeat!

Finally, the Alienship Rescue expansion brings a 5-Mission Campaign that form the larger story of the Rescue Mission, where 2 to 4 hostages have been taken and have to be Rescued before it’s too late! The campaign takes place on both maps of the core box as well as inside the modular alienship Tiles:

Time’s up, squad. Stand by for the next mission update!

I really like the Sarah Morgan model. I like the Medical Bag.
Is it logical - nope. But it surely represent a medic much more than some kind of technical backpach or something similar.

It it could be sculped in the same pose at the drawing it would be perfect.

      +1 to Joshua's pointS

Not really, but two things: 1. Why is Sarah Morgan a Kickstarter exclusive? Why not include her in the expansion? You are going to release an expansion into retail with no new hero? I mean she's thematically appropriate for the expansion; you would want to take a medic on a rescue mission. Save the Kickstarter exclusives for the stretch goals.
      2. Why is Sarah Morgan carrying her medic bag? Sarah Mercy did this too. I makes no sense. A modern medic would have a bag on their back or at least a fanny pack style bag. Medic's generally need their hands free to treat and evacuate casualities or defend themselves or others. Did we take a step backwards in the future? And it's a briefcase for God's sake.
      Okay, rant done.

    5. Jan Turck on

Any body else think that Sarah Morgan would have looked much better if sculpted in the pose on the card instead of the 3D render??

Need Zombicide Invader crossover content for this too. Will definitely get this expansion, if they CMON did.

    7. Sarkin on

Its like when I painted little board shorts onto my Abominatroll's butt ;P

    8. Sarkin on

Might need to take the ole hobby knife to Sargo's codpiece. Also I think I will homebrew a character sheet for him to be used as a hero. Proxie traitor

    9. Max Maloney on

Has anyone noticed that the Flier description says they can’t be attacked by adjacent characters, but the preview image of their card (in the box contents up top) says they can ONLY be attacked by adjacent?

There was an alien type in the original version expansion that could only be attacked by adjacent characters, which makes me think this might be the new version. But the text description makes it unclear.

    10. Michael Bane on

Yeah but seriously, Sargo's crotch needs a makeover.

Price seems ok, wonder if tariffs are affecting game imports next year. It's more then 2x what we got in elementals for MD and that was $30.

    13. Pachro on

I love everything about this expansion except the price. I’m on the fence...

@Matt Drake - I had the same reaction.

One of my first thoughts was that you could paint the circles on the front of the "protrusion" yellow and claim he has headlights there. (In reality I would want to de-emphasize the ridiculousness rather than drawing attention to it.)

    15. Agis Neugebauer on

@Jeff - i see your point but optional buy are a good thing IMO.
It is up to me if i take them, i have more control instaed having to decide for one big pledge!

I honestly never thought I'd say this as a lover of all things CMON but this "optional buy" strategy they seem to be pushing more heavily in recent campaigns is really starting to wear on me...I understand some of the motives behind it (and I have to assume they have data to back up the strategy) but for me it's like one big feelsbadman after another :(

I'd be curious to know if users/backers actually prefer this strategy to something like paying a higher base pledge and getting more stretch goals or even CMON back-pocketing content like this for more major expansions a few months down the road.

The cost for both completionists who want all the content as well as those of us who are ok with just picking and choosing optional content seems unsustainable. Am I alone in this thinking?

Can the expansion be played solo?

    18. Nathan Stiles on

$50 seems right to me-- 4 bosses, 1 new alien type, 5 out of the box missions, new tiles to use, and some of the better sculpts offered for the game. It's a must buy.

    19. Missing avatar

      Scotty on

$50? For that little content when this could easily also be a set of cards and rules using ZI figures as well...

Is there not a way to also make this similar to the $15 pledge???

Nice expansion! Love the campaign, the alien designs, and the modular boards! I'm definitely in for this.

Question: will we be able to use the modular boards for gameplay with the Missions from the Base Set? Or is only for the expansion mission?

    23. Nakano

If it's not already considered, there could be a game mode where tiles are not revealed/put in play instantly. One needs to use a search action to reveal next tile and get further in the "dungeon". To win, is to get to end.

Now that I consider it, I feel the content is lacking for $50. Compared to the exp from any other zombicide or even DMD...

At least CMON should provide SGs for this exp...

Is Sarah Morgan included if I buy the expansion during the pledge manager right? Thanks.

@Audrey - Sarah Morgan is a repurposed Castellan Medic design from the unreleased Sedition Wars Arms of Sorrow game.

    32. The Hobby Humanist on

Amazing. I was just thinking to myself last night that it would be nice to have a "Sarah Morgan" heroine in this campaign. On a completely unrelated note, Metroid was the first game I ever played on a console, way back in the 1980s.

      Agustin Medina on

Agreed! It is a missed opportunity if they dont include more of both sides (invader to elite and elite to invader) maybe not KS exclusives but at least for expansions!

Crossover pack for dark side and for this expansion would be awesome!

Also, why not make one for ks exclusives on both sides? Im sure quite a few would buy that!
