Face the Trials of the Tribe of Um'Tal!
Our little intrepid hero is still making his way to being unlocked:
We have one more surprise for you. Well, it may be the worst-kept secret, but we do have one more tribe ready, which was initially planned as an Optional Buy. However, due to the very strong response we got from Retail Pledges, and specially the Chinese pledges (as mentioned in THIS update), we decided that we’d use this extra tribe as a very special reward for these funds raised outside the campaign proper. So yeah, here goes a whole new full tribe added to everybody’s base pledge!
We're adding the full Tribe of Um'Tal to the Tyrant pledge, including their 11 Figures, 11 Figure cards, 8 Tribe cards, and 6 Upgrade cards. So that makes a whopping 8 Tribes in the base pledge alone, not counting the 3 Optional Buy ones! That's a very impressive 102 miniatures in the base pledge, once Worm is unlocked.
So let's explore this new tribe.
Struggle lay at the heart of life, none more alive than those in contention for it. None more dead than those who sought to hide. Worth remained the only quality of importance. What did one offer the tribe? Strength? Knowledge? Cunning? These traits demonstrated one's value.
Cast aside were the old ways born in decadent times before the moon burned: Coin. Trinkets. Inheritance. Even ties of blood became worthless, no matter one's parentage. None held this maxim more truly than the Varn, for whom lesser men might assign great import by virtue of birth. Simpletons. There were no heirs-apparent, no claimants on the throne. In such thinking wormed weakness and its rot. For even one worthless Prince would mean death for all, no matter his father's might nor his mother's sorcery.
One proved their value, or one perished. The rite of passage became more than mere transition from child to adult. Those of value returned. Of the others, none cared. Useless meat on useless bones.
Worth proved difficult to gain, and trivial to toss aside.
For the Tribe of Um'Tal, nothing is as important as the rites of passage. Every member of the tribe must prove their worth by passing trials. And not just into adulthood, but these trials are part and parcel of the life of the tribe. Failing such trials has dire consequences, such as exile or even death.
The Tribe cards of the Um'Tal are mainly about facing Trials in order to prove your worth and gain the rewards they may yield. When played, each Trial card requires that certain tasks be performed in order to fulfill it. Once the Trial is accomplished the tribe gets the bonus listed at the bottom of the card for the rest of the battle.
Let's take a closer look at the members of this final tribe.
And now, for the first time ever (at least on this Kickstarter), feast your eyes on these miniatures as painted by Angel Giraldez (always note that figures come unpainted).
