There's an Art to rolling Extra Dice!

Posted by Thiago Aranha (Collaborator)

Iä! Iä! Investigators fhtagn!

We have successfully unlocked the Kickstarter Exclusive Dagon, and now Father is reunited with Its loyal servants...

... as our fight to unlock Dagon's Kickstarter Exclusive Elder One Contents continues:

And while we persevere to bring this fight to our world, we have a couple of offerings...

Dice rolls are essential to battle against our deepest fears, the overtaking insanities, and to take down our enemies. Passing dice around, however, not the most fun thing in the world. And then there are those occasions when the bonuses just pile up, so we thought you may want to have more dice at hand... just in case.

For $10, the Extra Dice pack Optional Buy comes with 8 custom dice (3 basic, 5 bonus) making up a full extra dice set for Cthulhu: Death May Die.

There is no doubt that one of the main features of Death May Die is all the amazing artwork created for the game. So we'd like to offer you a chance to fully appreciate all that art compiled into a beautiful Art Book:

For $20 this Kickstarter Exclusive Optional Buy gives you a beautiful hardcover book, with around 112 full-color pages depicting every piece of artwork created for Death May Die! Here you will find all the terrifying monsters created by Adrian Smith and all the unique investigators created by Karl Kopinski, accompanied by their lore texts written by Eric Kelley. You will also find the stunning episode artworks created by Richard Wright, the disturbing Insanity card art envisioned by Filipe Pagliuso, and the evocative cover artwork by Stefan Kopinski.

The Great Old One stirs. Sleep tight.

I agree with Richard C. Moore. The dice should be different from the standard dice in some way, whether frosted or marbled, just to separate them a bit in style. I think it would be a nice touch.

    2. Jack on

      Dice... very cool.

    3. Bryan on

@Daniele Yup, confirmed in the comments a day or two ago.

    4. Daniele on

@Danny Shafer really? CMON confirmed that the tiles are all double sided?

    5. Danny Shafer

I asked about the tiles several days ago. The tiles are all double sided. I would still like more tiles though.

    6. Victor Avalos on

I would love to rise for the art book, but since I am pledging from Mexico, I already have to pay almost 200usd for the double shipping (game and fat ass cthulhu), so if you want more money, you better get the real add ons out

Humph, 350$ for a game without translation … Im not sure to want spend 30$ for more /

    8. Richard C. Moore on

Wish the extra dice were a little special in some frosted or other mod. They've done this with previous campaigns.

    9. Daniele on

112 pages minus 3 Old ones minus 23 investigators, minus 12 kind of monsters minus well put around 20 pages of insanity cards...around 50 pages of mistery (I hope all this pages can show monster/Old ones that are in the next SG :P )

    10. Paireon, lumberjack of Brimstone

@Arron DeMoss - Heh, I'm the exact opposite: I don't care much for extra dice, but I love me some artbooks.

    11. Sharkey on

I might get the dice this time around, but I would definitely need a proper DMD dice bag if I do! =D

I agree with more tiles adding replayability. Also with the experience from Eldritch Horror, if you dont have enough cards or scenarios in this case, the lore portion of the game becomes stale.

There needs to be enough variety to allownplayers to forget a little bit the content of the cards for it to stay fresh.

    13. Brandon Stoltz on

Good to get the smaller-scale add-ons out of the way first. Plus my girlfriend and I always love a good art book.

    14. Daniele on

Mhn well well I hope to see some free dices in a SG, like The Others campaign

    15. Mashing

Just want to chime in to say that I would very much like to see more tiles. It really helps with variability and replayability

Happy to see add ons come as I think it will really help met stretch goals while giving some cool goodies! I would also love more play tiles for more verity but if the 17 are double sided that basically makes it 34. Also having some episodes with unique tiles could really add a lot of verity as well.

    17. Arron DeMoss on

Art Books aren't my thing, but I do like having extra dice.

    18. David Anderson

Conversely, storage and sorting of large numbers of tiles is a real pain. My favorite way a game has dealt with this is Mansions of Madness as those tiles all stack neatly since they are the same size and are easier to sort because of it.

      Keith Kraemer on

Agreed. Lack of tiles is my biggest complaint. I have a feeling that more of them will be on their way in the form of an add-on expansion, but I'd really, REALLY like to see some of these included as stretch goals if CMON is listening. I'd take that and more monsters over additional investigators any day!

    20. Jason L Perry

For some reference, the art book for Rising Sun was 70 pages, so this one has about 60% more pages!

    21. Cthugha on

CMON: There are 17 tiles in the core game, some of them very small.
So every episode (Inc Dagon), will all play out on these same 17 tiles?
      Unimpressive. Most unimpressive.
Have a look at the Solomon Kane KS from Mythic.
Each new episode came with additional tiles to enhance the new scenario.
      Learn and earn.

    22. James Austin

I kinda wish I'd gotten the art book for Rising Sun now, so tentatively I've upped my pledge to cover this one. If some good add-ons come later I can always drop the art book for more important stuff.

    23. Brian on

@Bill so there's a big audience when the big add ons drop :)

    24. Jason L Perry

Fantastic, I was hoping for the art book!

Queue the incoming whining from the entitled babies: "These add nothing to game play! Worst KS ever!", as if more isn't coming.

    25. James Austin

Smith's art had struck me as kinda samey in Invader... Clearly he was saving up the good stuff for this game instead.

    26. Jakob Stuber on

What the heck is a "Monters Card"?

    27. MGAC

      All in, with a grin.

      Colin Nicholls on

Love Adrian Smith's art work. The art book is a must for me. For me it brings life to the game :)

    29. WarWolf on

Pretty cheap to have the cards for Dagon as a separate stretch goal.

      Why the boring addons first?
