Valar Dohaeris, bannermen!

We're on our way to unlocking Maester Pycelle and his wise counsels:

To help push us on our last stretch, we have a very special Optional Buy to offer you:

The Terrors & Inspirations Terrain Set is a Kickstarter Exclusive set of plastic pieces to enrich your ASOIF:TMG experience.

Note that this is an Exclusive item for Kickstarter backers, with remaining stock available at conventions and special promotions only.

This Kickstarter Exclusive Terrain Set includes the following:

  • 1x Weirwood Tree
  • 4x Corpse Piles

Now let's take a look at how this Set impacts gameplay in ASOIF:TMG!

Weirwood Tree

3D Render of the Weirwood Tree (with Ned and Catelyn for scale)

These mysterious ancient trees are surrounded by mysticism, exerting a powerful influence over the spirits of men.

  • This terrain piece has the Inspiring characteristic, meaning Units in Short Range may re-roll Morale Tests.

This plastic terrain piece is on a base around 24cm by 19cm large, with the tree standing about 15cm tall.

Corpse Pile

3D Render of the Corpse Pile (with figure for scale)

Stumbling upon a Corpse Pile is a traumatic experience for any man. It's hard for soldiers not to contemplate their own fate when staring at this gruesome display.

  • This terrain piece has the Horrific characteristic, meaning Units moving into or through this terrain gain 1 Panic Token.

This plastic terrain piece is about 15cm by 11cm wide.

If you're interested in purchasing this optional buy, please just click the "Manage Your Pledge" button on the A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game Kickstarter page and in the pledge manager add $21. We'll sort out what your extra money is going towards after the campaign has closed and we've sent out our Pledge Manager.

Colored Plastic Terrain

As you might have noticed, the Terrors & Inspirations plastic terrain actually has color, instead of being a flat gray. The Weirwood Tree even displays different colors, to reflect the peculiar nature of this tree, with a pale trunk and reddish leaves.

We are happy to say we are updating all of our Kickstarter Exclusive Plastic Terrain Sets to colored plastic! This way if you don't paint your terrain features, they'll already look much more natural and visually striking out of the box! Take a look at what each of these terrain pieces will now look like:

The plastic terrain pieces will not be pre-painted, but use colored plastic.

To add any Optional Buys, just click the "Manage Your Pledge" button on the A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game Kickstarter page and in the pledge manager add your desired amount of funds. We'll sort out what your extra money is going towards after the campaign has closed and we've sent out our Pledge Manager.

Please note the cardboard terrain quantities in the Work In Progress Rulebook are incorrect. The quantities present in the Plastic Terrain Sets actually match the correct quantities of what will come in the Starter Set as cardboard tokens:

  • [1x] Trees
  • [3x] Stakes -(reverse)- Hedge
  • [1x] Palisade -(reverse)- Low Wall
  • [2x] Palisade -(reverse)- Ruined Wall
  • [1x] Bog
  • [1x] Weirwood Tree
  • [4x] Corpse Pile

When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die.

Make the corpse piles in armor and generic blank shields and such. Please.

I'm looking to add all of the extra pieces to my collection for this series. Would it be possible to have an extra level on kick starter including all stretch goals and terrains? Or have all the extras listed with a total so I can he sure not to miss anything.

Now that I see them in color I am much more likely to choose the terrain sets, particularly the weirwood tree.

I'm generally not one to complain about things like this, but I would echo some of the other commenters; I don't really care about corpse piles at all. I'd totally be interested in 2 weirwood trees though.

    5. A Davies on

Any change we could see a set containing a weirwood and 3 or 4 normal trees? As others have commented, this would be awesome and tempt more people to send more on their pledge.

    6. Gavin Meakings on

It definitely isn't the less stretch goal as only have half the plastic token set. We would get the rest of them if nothing else.

Like others on here I love the design of the Weirwood tree. Only need one or two of those among the other trees, they are lovely! But the corpse pile feels like an obligatory buy if we want the Weirwood tree. Personally I don't like those corpse piles, why are they all clustered together and half naked? Surely that would be how they appear after the battle is over once the pillaging starts.. Please reconsider a box of trees, 3 standard and 1 Weirwood, people would gobble that up I'm sure of it ( me included)

Seems kind of counterproductive if so.

Is this really the last stretch goal?

    10. Dewo Haarler on

Man, if the weirwood and the other trees were a set together, no way I'd be able to resist.

      A great new terrain set.

Good choice on Weirdwood size, perfect for Sylvan Elves 'Forest Follows' terrain piece in T9A in addition to its use in this game. (Terrain being multi-functional is pretty essential for those of us who play multiple games).

    13. Bent Holshagen Hemmingsen on

The weirwood looks incredible. I'd like to see the option to buy a bigger terrain set with several parts in it.

      @jacob: like me :)

Good, that will up a few more people's pledges who didn't like the plain grey terrain.
