Battle at the Mummer's Ford: A New Playmat Option!

Valar Dohaeris, bannermen!

We've just hit the $915k mark and unlocked the Mercenaries Tactics Deck for all backers with a Hand of the King pledge. We now officially have a third faction in the game!

You can find detailed information of this deck of cards in this previous UPDATE!

Next up, as we revealed before, we'll start working towards the final part of the Stark Longbowmen:

If we reach $955k, all backers will unlock 8 additional Stark Longbowmen miniatures along with their Movement Tray to complete the box of Stark Longbowmen!

And to continue to broaden our selection of Optional Buys, we prepared a new playmat that we'd like to offer:

The 'Battle at the Mummer's Ford' playmat is an item exclusive to Kickstarter and Organized Play, with remaining stock available at conventions and special promotions only.

The 'Battle at the Mummer's Ford' Playmat comes in two 2 x 4 feet neoprene pieces, 2mm thick, so it can be more easily stored and transported. The two pieces come together to form a single 4 by 4 feet area to enrich your ASOIF:TMG experience and features the landscape of the battle where The Mountain intercepted his enemy's retreat and killed almost everyone, including many of Eddard Stark's men!

"I saw the Mountain slay Raymun Darry with a single blow so terrible that it took Darry’s arm off at the elbow and killed the horse beneath him too."

If you're interested in purchasing this optional buys, please just click the "Manage Your Pledge" button on the A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game Kickstarter page and in the pledge manager add $35. We'll sort out what your extra money is going towards after the campaign has closed and we've sent out our Pledge Manager.

Still on the topic of playmats, we've heard that many of you wanted to see the first playmat we offered,'Battle in the Whispering Woods' feature less trees and large rocks in the center area, making for a cleaner battleground. Well, we brought the best crew of lumberjacks in Westeros and worked on the scenery :)

We've replaced some of the trees and bulkier rocks from the center of the field with more natural elements, adding patches of mud following watery areas, gravel and dirt, as well as some nice little touches, such as a hastily abandoned campfire and a trampled banner.

And there you have it, bannermen! Remember...

Any chance we could get a 3rd 2'x4' playmat section for these to expand the play area out to 4'x6' for large games?

@donnbobhardy - for sure. I'm backing to get a playable set; trying to avoid chasing new releases/spending more money later.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the cutthroats were an optional buy only. I'm curious about stretch goals.

@FlatB - Mercs are already up to 2 units. They have the Girls and the Cutthroats. And they will certainly have more units added. The real question is whether they will appear in this KS or go straight to retail.

    4. FlatB on August 9

Will more stretch goals provide mercenary unit options, or will these only be add-ons?

Very interested in having a third playable faction but not so much if they only have 1 unit and 2 Commanders.

On that note, the Bloody Mummers would be awesome. Just sayin'

Nah, the water is good, adds a bit of colour to the map, and simulates a beach landing.

    6. Yury Alexandrov on August 9

So, if mercs are third faction in the game officialy, is it possible to get set of tokens/rulebook not from the box?

    7. David Searle on August 8

Please get rid of the water at the bottom as it seems wasted space. Wouldn't look right setting your men up on it at the start.

+1 for no trees (or other tall terrain) and map compatibility

@ Jon. That's exactly what these are. Neoprene is mouse mat material.

After watching "The Spoils of War" all I can ask is where them dragons at?

would there by any chance be an option to get these in that computer mouse pad style? I would jump at one of those.

Agree with others that all trees need to go! It's heading in the right direction. Personally I'd like to see a city map

    13. David Smith on August 8

You really need to remove all the trees from mat 1 as printed tall terrain never looks right on a 2d mat, how about replacing with scrubland for decor on which we can place woodland terrain. Also missing a trick by not being able to match the 2 mats together to make a bigger play area.

Pretty mats. But you are really missing the mark on what people were asking.

They want mats that they can switch around in different configurations and still work together. That was the real complaint.

Very nice design, but having it split in two makes me doubtful I'll get it.
