Hey Kickstarter! Seeing as my first campaign went so well, I'm back with a new art book collection of my drawings over the last two years. The book has been prepared already, I just need a little help getting it printed!
I’m Chris Metzner, an artist based out of the Seattle area. Over the past couple years I've been drawing nonstop and most of it is either given away, sold, or lost in the void of sketchbooks on my shelf. So this new artbook series Collections is meant to be something that compiles all of the art I'm proud of in one softcover book. I'm planning for this project to be the start of a series of artbooks which I can release over the years as I keep drawing and evolving my style. Also it can be an "All the options!" option if someone can't decide which print they'd like to get at a convention.
Lately I've been trying to specialize in dynamic angles and hands/feet so half of this art book will be comprised of my attempts at trying to display that through fanart of various franchises. All drawn with a combination of Copic, Arteza and Prismacolor markers. The other half will be filled with ALL of my concept art, environments, and design work for my upcoming graphic novel series Sincerely Elise. It comes out to around 100 pages packed with ~180 drawings!
That being said, I hope this project catches your eye and you enjoy!
I've had a few requests for a coloring book so I figured it would be a fun incentive as a stretch goal! Inside you'll find 30 pages of the inked-only drawings from the art book. Along with that I have LOADS of procreate sketches loaded on my ipad that id like to also fit into this book but it would be a bit more costly. Hopefully we hit it!
Currently I'm working full time at Funko as a designer and putting out as much art/music as I can on the side. Outside of that I'm spending time with my fiance, Lea, probably getting killed by skeletons and losing all of our diamonds. I graduated from Art Institute of San Diego with the intentions to get into game art and 2D textures but the moment I started drawing traditionally that perspective changed and I just never really stopped drawing since. This book will be my second ever personally published project!
At the end of the day I'm just looking to create stuff everyday and put it out in the world for people to enjoy!
Risks and challenges
This will be the second time I publish a book through kickstarter. I've set the estimated delivery date to November 2019. With that, it gives me time to accordingly plan out the book's proof copies, printing, shipping, and rewards.
Like last time, we are planning to print through Bookmobile, a printing service that partners directly with kickstarter. They fulfill rewards from their end by sending the book directly to you, as for the additional rewards those will come in a separate package mailed by me! I'm planning to time it so I can begin sending out rewards as the books are sent!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
