In the far distant future, the earth is dying. On the last remaining continent, magic and technology are one. Humanity’s descendants have evolved to fill an ecosystem decimated by mass extinctions. A warrior woman with two young children struggles to survive against horrific sorcery and fanatical belief. With an uncanny talent for the sword and the friendship of a vengeful sorceress, Una the Blade will defy an empire and make war on the gods themselves.

Una the Blade is the long-gestating brainchild of Steve LeCouilliard, creator of the Xeric Grant winning Much the Miller’s Son. He is the co-creator and artist behind Dreadful Sirens with writer Karla Pacheco and is a 12 year veteran of the animation industry.
Una the Blade will be the first full length comic to feature the character and will include never before seen stories illustrated by comic greats Simon Roy, Katie Shanahan, Tess Fowler, Renee Nault, Chris Johnston, Michael Stearns, Claudia Aguirre & Sloane Leong, along with pieces by a variety of artists such as the legendary Esteban Maroto, Steven E. Gordon, Rodolphe Guenoden, Jordyn Bochon and more.

Una made her first appearance in the pages of Funday Sunnies, the third anthology by Cloudscape Comics. That's why Cloudscape is thrilled to bring you this brand new story collection. This will be our third book funded by the BC Arts Council and our fourth publication this year. We are already close to making this book a reality, but we appreciate your help to finish this project! All the contributing artists have been paid for their work out of the creator’s own pocket, so our goal is to reimburse Steve first, then provide bonuses to the artists and Cloudscape out of any extra money we raise.

STRETCH GOALS:
$3,500 When we hit this funding goal, the DRM free PDF of Una the Blade will be expanded to include 6 pages of sketches by Steve LeCouilliard, Katie Shanahan, Tess Fowler and Claudia Aguirre and 8 rough pages from unfinished stories by Ryan Lovelock and Rebecca Dart.

$5,000 At this goal, we'll add Pablo Clark's gorgeous 5 page story, The Pyre to the print and digital editions of Una the Blade!

$9,000 Stretch Goal. When we reach this goal, the project will have turned a profit, and we can offer bonuses to all of the incredible artists who appear in the book!
We have a variety of incentives including all three volumes of Steve's other series, Much the Miller’s Son, a library of eBooks, and copies of Funday Sunnies, which features Una’s first comic appearance.

Risks and challenges
To be clear, THIS PROJECT IS HAPPENING. Everyone is payed and the printing costs are covered by the BC Arts Council Grant. There is zero risk that the comic won’t see print, this is just a great chance to pre-order the book before the first run sells out!
Our estimated Printing cost is $3,143.28 and we have a grant of $3,333.00, so the purpose of this Kickstarter is to cover shipping, and hopefully reimburse Steve for the upfront costs of paying his artists.
Cloudscape has a long track record of successful fundraisers.
