Designed by William Rouse with art by Javier González, Six Sided Summoner is a cooperative tactics game, like Pandemic or Zombicide, and inspired by the tower defense genre and popular MOBA games such as Dota 2 and Heroes of the Storm.
During the game, four players can take control of mythological guardians to fend off the forces of darkness. Rather than concerning yourself with your own safety, your goal is to work with other players to defend a crystal at one end of the game board from enemy Shadows. Move your characters around a tactical grid to place traps and ambush enemies.
Abilities and enemy behavior is determined randomly each game for lots of replayability. Additionally, the game comes with 6 guardians, each with their own unique play style and abilities.
For more ways to play, we are including a 2 player versus mode that lets you pit your strategy and character combinations against a friend.
Key Features Include:
- Rich fantasy artwork. See the art section below. Seriously great stuff.
- 6 unique guardian characters. Each playable character has their own playstyle and twists. Different attacks and passive abilities mean each one feels entirely different!
- Cooperative tactical gameplay allows you to combine your ability and put your heads together to come out on top.
- A wonderfully illustrated tactical grid with varied terrain. The map can be further altered during play by placing tokens with your guardians' special abilities.
- Randomized abilities for both players and enemies making each game unique! Additionally, enemy abilities are revealed over the course of the game, meaning you'll have to stay on your toes and improvise new strategies.
- 1 to 4 player cooperative mode
- Two player competitive mode for increased playability and competition.
- Estimated 1 hour play time.
If you want to up the style of your game, consider getting the limited dice add on! Originally designed as our first Kickstarter campaign (check it out for a better look at the dice), these dice are designed to emulate some of the Guardians in Six Sided Summoner: the Kitsune, Spider Queen, Leviathan, and Cockatrice. These dice were previously only available through Kickstarter, so now is your chance to snag some if you missed it.
Plus, if you want to support the campaign without committing to the full game, getting a set of dice is a nice way to help us get to our goal!

" Six Sided Summoner is a terrific cooperative game for both players of online MOBAs and dungeon delvers, as well as groups that enjoy building strategy together. " - AnnaMaria Jackson-Phelps of Board Game Quest
Six Sided Summoner has been a labor of love for the last 2 years. More than anything, I just want to share this project with other fans of tactical games. But this is a very small operation. With a goal of producing only 100 copies we won't be able to make many extra copies to sell later. So, in all likelihood, this will be your only chance to get a copy of this game.
While it's possible that if demand is high enough in the future we may do a second run, it won't be a major focus.
Finally, if this dream is going to be a reality, we need you!
Due to the relatively modest funding goal, stretch goals are a bit tricky. The vast majority of funding will go towards reward fulfillment, unless we wildly overshoot our goal, with the rest being used as a safety net for fees, taxes, and shipping complications.
Instead, we have goals for our backers to accomplish. If we reach a certain number of shares on social media, or a fast funding goal, you will unlock some nice bonuses for all backers!
If you are curious about how the game looks in action, take a look at this video. Please forgive the low quality. we don't have a recording space set up!
Keep in mind that this video is sped up considerably, because much of the fun of the game comes from working out a strategy with your friends!
Producing a game is expensive. If you have backed a board game project on Kickstarter before, you may notice that our funding goal is relatively low. This is because rather than using an overseas manufacturer to produce 1000 copies of the game, we have decided to shoot for a more modest goal using popular print on demand service The Game Crafter. This lets us create a high quality product (seen in the photos above) without needing to hit huge backer numbers or deal with overseas shipping and distribution. Also, because The Game Crafter handles both manufacturing and distribution for bulk orders, we can have these games sent out reliably in just a couple months.
There are a couple downsides to this method. The first is that the cardboard components (standees and tokens) are laser cut, and there will likely be some soot. Having handled the game I can tell you that it is harmless and comes off quite easily, but it's something you should be aware of.
The second issue is that international shipping is quite expensive because all orders ship from within the United States. Shipping outside of the United States and Canada is going around $30 for a copy of the game. I want to say now that I am very sorry about the added cost for international players, and I understand that this means many people outside of the United States won't have a chance to play the game.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out in a private message or leave a comment on the Kickstarter page. One of the best parts of Kickstarter is that it allows creators and backers to engage in a dialogue and make improvements before things go to print!
Risks and challenges
As I'm sure any Kickstarter backer is aware, making a game is not without risks.
However, due to the small scale of this campaign, it's much more difficult for things to become overly complicated. Plus, the game is 99% complete (complete with some room for backer feedback), and The Game Crafter is handling distribution. On our end, it's just a matter of finalizing the last bits of gameplay and graphic design, collecting backer feedback, and sending the game to print.
Because we are hoping to ship during a holiday season, it's possible that we will see some delays in December and January. That said, The Game Crafter is a reliable and proven company and I have no doubt you will receive a timely and high quality product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
