my email's since changed- is there any way i can receive the ebook via my gmail, as i can no longer log into the email i used to have?

    10. Richard Rutter Creator on February 9, 2017

Nothing — apart from the entire book available to you online while production is finished.

Thank you for your trust and patience while I get over the final hurdle at the same time as holding down a full time job and looking after my young family.

      And yet... Still nothing.

Please respect your backers (and their money) and deliver on your promises.

      Thanks. A.

Can you just give us what it is already written from the book? The written chapters. I have the ebook anyway and you can send me the rest of the chapters when they will be ready.

This should be easy, if you have written anything, of course.

    14. Jitachi Garcia on December 19, 2016

Hello Richard, do you have any update?

    15. Richard Rutter Creator on October 13, 2016

I'm sticking to what I said about getting the book done by Christmas. I'm writing all the hours I possibly can in order to achieve that, including reducing my days at work. It's a tough ask, but I'm determined to get there in time.

    16. prisca on October 12, 2016

      Hello Richard,
any news on a more specific date for this?
Been looking forward to this - and had hoped to recommend it to our web students by now ;)

an update would be much appreciated :)

Richard, can we have a status please? "planning to have the book finished by the end of the year" is not encouraging.

      Hi Richard,

I want a refund of this project please, it's way too late now.

How do we settle this ?

Hi Doru - I'm certainly planning to have the book finished by the end of the year.
      Thanks again for your patience,

This book was intended to be a gift for a friend for Christmas 2015. Do you think that it can become a gift for the same friend for Christmas 2016? Am I too daring to hope?

    22. Richard Rutter Creator on May 16, 2016

Hi Sebastian - yes I have another update and preview of more chapters coming soon.

    23. Sebastien Requiem on May 16, 2016

Hey Richard, any news on the book ? That would be great to get some news :)

    24. Richard Rutter Creator on March 23, 2016

I'll send out a survey when the book has gone to print that way I'll get the latest postal addresses from everyone.

      nger on March 22, 2016

I moved (address changed). How can I tell you the new address (for the book mailing)?

    26. Richard Rutter Creator on February 19, 2016

I understand your worry, but I'd rather not send out a completely unedited version of the text, particularly before any of it has been past the editor first. I can assure you the first batch is with the editor right now, along with two more chapters (on 'Ems and friends' and 'Responsive paragraphs').

As soon as I receive the edits back I will give all backers a view of the entire section.

    27. Jitachi Garcia on February 17, 2016

Hi Richard, this may sound dumb but, any chance to receive an unedited version of some chapters? I know this is not the best for you but is the best for some of us since it helps to decrease the feeling of "I'm never going to receive my book". Oreilly books offers "raw" versions of the books when they're being edited, I know you're not Oreilly but that's just an example. "Done is better than perfect". Thanks!

    28. Andy on February 3, 2016

Any update Richard? Hope its going well for you?

Hi, has the first quarter gone for editing yet?

    31. Richard Rutter Creator on January 13, 2016

Still chipping away at the writing. It's a lot of work and time is a little restricted at the moment. Still hope to get first section draft out within a few weeks.

    36. Richard Rutter Creator on July 21, 2015

@ Jeremy Stucki: approximately 200 pages.

    37. Jeremy Stucki on July 21, 2015

Happy to be a backer! How many pages will the book have?

    38. simoncox on July 7, 2015

Excellent choice of the FullCreamMilkMan as your editor! This book is going to be something special (no pressure there then...).

    39. Ant Miller on June 26, 2015

The Bodoni Eurostile thing may be nonsense, but those are two of my favourite typefaces. TBH, that's what swung it! Best of luck Richard. I suspect you may get rather a big pledge to play with - got any stretch goals in mind? Giant ampersand shaped balloon?

    40. Luke Dorny on June 25, 2015

You're nearly there already in only two days! Preemptive congratulations, sir.

    41. Matt Hamm on June 25, 2015

So close to your goal already! You'll easily make it. :) Can't wait!

      on June 25, 2015

Thanks Richard, glad to back this without reservation now.

    43. Indra Kupferschmid on June 25, 2015

Sure, let’s discuss somewhere else if you want. For explaining vertical stress, you could maybe better do this with Bodoni and FF Bau or Helvetica (see also Martin Majoor’s comparison of Walbaum and Akzidenz Grotesk). Eurostile is too constructed superelliptic geometric in my view to get this to work.

    44. Richard Rutter Creator on June 25, 2015

Howard - yes the ebooks will be DRM-free.

    45. Howard Kistler
      on June 24, 2015

Looks like it will be an excellent resource, if you and your editor meet the goals set. Quick question, are the ebooks DRM-free? I've backed for them and the paperback, but want to be sure, as I only support DRM-free efforts. Thanks and good luck!

    46. Richard Rutter Creator on June 24, 2015

Thanks Indra. We'll have to talk about that 'nonsense' sometime. I suspect you may be right :-) Although it does illustrate 'vertical stress' quite well, I think.

    47. Indra Kupferschmid on June 24, 2015

Backed! This Bodoni–Eurostile illustration is nonsense though :)
