Future of urban mobility
Future of urban mobility
CityRabbit has redefined pedestrian scooters in order to move people in a fun, environmentally and efficient way through cities. The unique Nordic design with three wheels is built with safety in mind, to ensure that you get from point A to B in an efficient and sustainable way.
Moving around in city centers are getting more and more challenging. We are getting more people in urban centers and cars are being squeezed out. Years of frustration for the Norwegian designer Martin made him work with an electric “move around” product. The trend of electric bikes and scooter has it clear limits. A crossover between these products was sketched and The CityRabbit as an idea was born.
A company that could actually get the CityRabbit to market was then established in 2016. To make this a reality Tommy and Fredrik joined the team in 2018. Tommy as a former business man in banking and Fredrik with his experience in several start-ups.
The goal for the team is to get sustainable, user-friendly and safe micro mobility products and solutions out to the market, and we need your help to bring the CityRabbit to life.
Developed for the streets of Oslo, a city with a lot of brick roads and bumpy streets, the design includes a pneumatic front tire significantly larger than regular electric scooters for a more comfortable ride. The front wheel includes a 350W hub engine and solid disc brakes. The two rear tires have air less technology for extra suspension.
We know that safety is one of the most important topics when it comes to transportation and that is why we have included a powerfull disc brake to our design. The powerfull disc brake is activated by pulling the brake lever with your the left hand. This is similar to a standard bicycle.
The design also includes additional safety features such as white headlight and a red taillight. The rear light blinks when braking for added safety and visibility .
Since our CityRabbit is defined as a micro mobility vehicle we have added a foldable stem so it can easily fold to minimize it's size. Our design lets you do this with just one hand.
Because of the foldable design the CityRabbit can easily be park and store in the office, cafeteria or even in the back of your car. The handlebars height is adjustable to fit all people.
We have included the power outlet to the body of the scooter so that you easily can charge your CityRabbit where ever you are. Meaning that you don't need to take out the battery for charging.
Since CityRabbit is an electric scooter we found it natural to include an USB charger in to the control display so that you can charge your phone just by using your CityRabbit as the power source.
After you have downloaded our app (both Android and IOS), open it and locate your serial number. Tap on your serial number and your CityRabbit display will open.
You and your CityRabbit is now connected.
READY TO GO
When you are peered with your CityRabbit (you only need to do this once) our easy access control unit lets you turn on/off the CityRabbit, change from medium to full power and turn on/off head light. When activated and you are ready to GO just push down the throttle on you right hand and away you go.
When peering your phone to your CityRabbit you also activate the possibility to lock the front wheel as a safety measure. We have included the anti theft mechanism in to the app so that you don't need to carry around a separate bicycle lock. When your CityRabbit is locked the front wheel is blocked and will not move until YOUR phone opens it again.
When the app is turned off the front wheel is locked:

Risks and challenges
There is always a risk when introducing a new design into an already established market. But we believe that the Nordic design should be well accepted and quickly adopted.
There is also a risk operating between several nations regarding production and shipping to end customers but with good planning we should be able to operate within our initial timeline.
Manufacturing and logistics
There is little risk in investing in the CityRabbit as the tooling for the most complicated and time-consuming parts is already funded, made and tested. We are also hoping to get enough backers to be able to offer the CityRabbit in a range of different colors. For this we need financing and think that Kickstarter is a great platform to find enthusiastic backers that wants to join us bring this product to life.
Shipping and logistics.
Another potential risk is our choice in offering the CityRabbit to almost anyone in the world. This is a risk simply because shipping logistics can get really complicated. We can assure you that we are not making any money on our international shipping fees, only covering a portion of the full charges. If you live in one of the countries that we have not quoted shipping for, please reach out so we can try to get you one. If successful we will deliver the first CityRabbits within 8-10 weeks.
Honesty and communication
We want to be open and honest with our backers, so you are up to speed on what's happening throughout the process. There is always a potential risk of unforeseen challenges. Should there be any unforeseen delays in production or shipping, we will of course update the backers about this along the way. We will work hard and pushing nonstop until all our backers are happily out riding the CityRabbit!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
