We are the Detroit band Citizen Zero. And we are here to raise the funds to complete our second album at Rustbelt Studios. This album has taken on even greater significance, as our lead guitarist and brother Matt passed away one week into our studio session earlier this year. He completed his guitar work on only two of the tracks. After we lost Matt, we put our work on hold and took time to decide whether we could continue with not only the album, but with the band itself. This loss we've experienced has affected us both emotionally and financially. We've lost income from the shows that we were forced to cancel. But most importantly, we lost the most incredibly talented guitar player we've ever known. Matt had a singular style, and along with all of the cost associated with recording, mixing, mastering, and producing, we will need to book additional studio time to rework some of his guitar parts in order to complete the album. We needed time to regroup, to find our new guitarist, and time to heal. But we are not quitters - we are fighters. And the money from this Kickstarter campaign will allow us to make the best album that we possibly can... to both honor Matt and give us the best chance to bring our music to the widest audience possible! Here's the first and best bonus for backing the project. EVERYONE who pledges $5 or more (except for the $10 'show ticket only' option) will get a download of "Love To Hate", the single from our upcoming album which features the last guitar solo that Matt ever recorded. We’re also planning a “ComeBack” show on Sunday, June 24th, at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, MI - and we hope that everyone can join us! We’re so looking forward to celebrating Matt’s life and marking our return to the Detroit music scene. We know that we have a lot of living to do and a lot of great music to make – and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Thank you for the bottom of our hearts for your help and support!
