Love to dance? Not quite sure what to do with your hands? Wonder no more! Use a variety of small handheld props to add emphasis, punctuate your movements, direct attention, and add swish and sparkle to your routines.
I've danced since I was a small child, and re-discovered a love of performing when I moved to Boston in 2011. I fetched up at The Dance Complex in Cambridge, home to many local artists and companies, and discovered a far broader range of styles here than I had available to me in my youth. Flirting and experimenting taught me that there are no bounds to modern dance -- not even the bounds of your own self. With props like folding fans, hula hoops, scarves, hats, umbrellas, and fan veils, I can create shapes beyond what my body alone can accomplish.
I hope to make this workshop the first in a series of several, covering some of the many crazy objects I have fun juggling whenever I have the time.
The funds collected on Kickstarter will cover the studio rental, the necessary props, and the cost of the videographer who will shoot the digital version of the workshop.
Risks and challenges
Scheduling of the video shoot (for the non-local rewards) and the workshop itself are subject to the requirements of The Dance Complex, where the class will be held. Physical prop delivery is subject to the vagaries of any relevant postal systems.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
