We are pleased to introduce you to Cinnarookies! We are a local business started, founded by two women who are just trying to make their dream become a reality. Like most people in life, we have a calling to bring something into the world that is uniquely our own and for us that means putting a smile on someone's face, or making the day just a little brighter.
Like any start up, there are costs associated with getting a business off of the ground. There is a large gap between coming up with an idea and turning that idea into a business. We hope you will help us bridge that gap!
We are spreading the word of our venture the best we can to raise money. We are handing out cookies, information, and promoting our venture at any and every event and location that will let us in Minnesota. Outside of our state we are explaining our situation to folks and trying to offer up some appetizing incentives through Kickstarter.
We are trying to get new equipment or money for a co-op commercial kitchen space, insurance for said co-op space, food manager licensing coverage, merchant services for credit card payments, city permits and money for the 1st round of inventory to take down per-product costs. This sounds like a lot, we're sure, but it's really a small amount that is keeping us from our dream.
All of these challenges are easy enough to complete but, again, the financial backing that it requires is beyond what either of us has. We have invested our own money in buying higher-priced items for our first inventory shipment of bulk packaging (boxes, ribbons, food-grade paper) stickers, marketing materials, information, website and current merchant services. We are able to cover these costs but now need help in taking Cinnarookies from a "cookie idea" to a "cookie business".
We have both made this committment to making this our full time job and project so in terms on completing these obstacles, we are set and ready to go!
Please help us make our dream a reality.
If you have any specific questions for us we are more than happy to answer them. Please reach out and let us know. We want each one of you to be apart of our growth and decision making.
Risks and challenges
Right now we are biking, hiking, driving and pushing our cookies everywhere and to every person, place and business that we can reach. We are working on meeting all of our deadlines and have been able to thus far, but with your support we will be able to not only feed every cookie hungry mouth in Minnesota, but ship our cookies nationwide.
Our largest challenges right now include finding the capital to sign with a co-op kitchen space and and getting the proper funding to get the bulk inventory needed to continue to grow our business. We have been actively talking with commercial kitchens in the area but are unable to put an offer in that would secure a spot.
Like most start-ups we are boot strapping the costs and it's near impossible to meet the expenses associated with a rapidly growing pursuit. There are only so many cookies two people can bake, package and hand-deliver.
We are currently in talks to parter with a local delivery company to help complete our orders which would allow us to focus more on developing our shipping accross the United States. Implementing this extra facet without being able to have the means to fund the transition is just not an option.
In addition to that we are using a hand-blender for each batch. This may not seem like a big deal, but please believe us when we say: mixing batch after batch of our Cinnarookies is very trying on our spindly arms. We would LOVE to update to an automatic mixer -- nothing too fancy mind you, just something to help us mix and create more efficiently. We consider this a "gap filler" solution on the way to getting a space at a co-op kitchen.
We are not asking for more than we ABSOLUTELY need. Ideally a co-op kitchen space would be amazing but we are just as motivated to be with working with potentially updated equipmet.
Keep in mind Kickstarter Supporters that we also factored in the cost to fullfill the orders and "thank you" gifts that come along with any donations into the totaly amount of money we need raised. Kickstarter suggests that we do this, and so to pay for those extra materials in shipping and creation of products we did just that.
It is these little things that add up quickly and so we are calling on the great people of Kickstarter and beyond to help keep our newly born business officially get off the ground. One of the biggest reasons start-ups stay just a pipe dream for so many people is because the capital to get it off the ground is not there.
We will and are doing everything in our power to not be just a dream.
We believe in our product and think that you will all be please with our "thank you" gifts in this project. Please take a look at our campaign and peruse our website at Cinnarookies.com.
