YOU DID IT !!!
May 17, 2012
We just went over the top of our funding goal and the project is 100% funded.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!
But, you don't need to stop now! There's more we can do with more funds. Everything over $4000.00 still goes into the Sizzle Reel project. More clips of Portland, Better graphics, more editing software. We can do so much more with just a few more dollars!!!
What do we want to do?
My name is Kyle Bryant, my wife Marylou and I came up with an idea to create a Reality Show, based on a family owned business. I own Cinesational Video Productions, and have produced several TV shows and many many many Corporate videos, and so I thought that it would be good timing getting into the Reality Show field. We want to bring jobs, income, and tourism to Portland. We also want to create a positive and uplfiting series.
We had a meeting with the folks at The Portland Spirit, in Portland, Oregon, to share our idea. They loved the thought, and so we were off to film all 5 boats... That was August 10th of 2011. Since then, we have been shooting video of the crew, employees, and passengers, and all the adventures they get themselves into. It's now time to put that all together and create a Sizzle Reel (Promo) to send to the Networks. The Sizzle Reel is in need of a boost.
"Ships Ahoy!" - The Storyline
With the increasing cost and stress of maintaining 5 boats including: The Portland Spirit, The Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler, Willamette Star, Crystal Dolphin, and the Outrageous Jet Boat, plus having to manage 100+ employees, and 2 venues which include: The Terrace on Thunder Island and Gorge Pavilion in Cascade Locks, can the Portland Spirit operation stay afloat?
"The Boss" Dennis Corwin continues to ...be looked upon as a father figure to his 100+ employees.
We have 9 employees that make up the principal "cast" members and many more supporting "cast" members who will be followed throughout the season. Dennis' diverse, flavorful crew will be the focus of the episodes, relaying stories about there lives on board as well as "off the boat".
The 5 incredible ships will be featured as well as the beautiful back drop of the Columbia River and Gorge. From ongoing safety drills, "make a wish" cruises, personal relationships within the "family", weddings, plane crashes in the river, we will see snapshots of a day in the live of the Portland Spirit Operation.
A positive take will be shown, by Dennis, on how he deals with personnel conflicts and problems, these will be handled constructively with positive outcomes.
Stories are humorous, touching, serious, dramatic, and thought-provoking. Everyone works together to create seamless events. One of the main aspects of "Ships Ahoy" is the inspiring moments that rise to the surface amidst the chaos of running a fleet of ships.
The Portland Spirit staff works as a family, supporting each other, and watching each other’s back. But families don’t always agree on everything. "Ships Ahoy!" reveals how problems can be worked out in a positive way, with intelligence and integrity, with kindness and even forgiveness.
Many of the employees lead phenomenal lives, some of which are somewhat quirky. Highlighted cast members include: The Mysterious Owner of the company, and his dog, Drake, The General Manager, Captains, Bussing Staff, Servers, and Cruise Managers.
However, when "off the Boats", our cast members include: A Song Writer, Pastor, Nursing Student, Worship Pastor. For example; One of our cast members is a captain who writes songs and has a recording studio and theater for concerts on this property. He actually had a successful Kickstarter Campaign of his own ( She loves it when I DUST: CD Project )
There are also very close relationships within the employees; Several husband/wife relationships as well as a, father/daughter set.
The staff offers great stories; however, we can’t overlook the passengers. Portland Spirit ships are the perfect environment for groups to meet and celebrate life. "Ships Ahoy!" will be the "fly on the wall" capturing heartfelt special occasions as well as unexpected and intense moments including: 5 couples from the same family, each celebrating 50 years of marriage, a group from the Red Hat Society, a private company thanking their employees for a year in the black, the Friday Afternoon Escapes with local live bands, a College Urban Studies class with the GM of the Portland Spirit, the Cinnamon Bear Cruises at Christmas time, and intimate wedding parties of 6 as well as a wedding receptions for hundreds.
The show will also capture many unexpected events such as: a windsurfer needing to be rescued on the Columbia River by the crew of the Sternwheeler, the Outrageous Jet Boat breaking down during a cruise and the crew and office staff working together to get the passengers home safely via cars and vans, the dramatic situation, when a woman committed suicide, by driving her car into the Willamette River at 2:30 am, missing the Portland Spirit boat by only 10 feet, how the staff pulls together to extinguish ugly situations with intoxicated passengers, and many more.

Kickstarter - What is it all about?
Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative projects.
Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands.
1. It's less risk for you and us. We need at least $4,000, it's tough if we only receive $2,000 and all of you expect us to complete a $4,000 project.
2. It allows us to test whether you want to see "Ships Ahoy!" come to fruition ... to test our show idea without risk. If we don't receive the support we need, we are not compelled to follow through. This is huge!
3. It motivates. If all of you want to see "Ships Ahoy!" come to life, you are going to spread the word.
4. Donations are NOT Tax Deductible
How will the funds be used?
At the very least we are needing $ 4000.00, but if we receive more, then we can do much more for the Sizzle Reel.
The funds will be used for:
1.Purchase of Video Clips
2. Postage for sending the Sizzle Reel
3. Equipment for editing
4. If we receive more funds than we are asking for.. we will be able to purchase some extra software for graphics and animation
Thank you. Thank you.. each one for supporting Positively Real TV.
