      I haven't lived in Los Angeles in a number of years, but I believe in the Cinefamily, I've been to a few silent movies there and I saw you guys and girls' friends in Everything Is Terrible when they played Troy NY this winter and you all are rad as hell. I hope my ten bucks help. If I win the lotto in the next three days, I'll up my contribution.

      Most of my favorite memories in LA take place at the Cinefamily. From the AMAZING silent films (Baby Peggy!!), to the special events (my favorite was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea!!!), and definitely the awesome and weird regular programming (Rock-A-Fire Expolsion!) with cook outs in the back - I cannot imagine my life in this crazy town without your wacky wonders. Thank you for everything Cinefamily!

    15. Roxy Paz on December 24, 2012

      I live out in Riverside County, which can be a long way in traffic to get to Cinefamily. But it is worth it. I've had so many great memories there these past years and I can't wait to have even more. Cinefamily has been there for me in so many awesome ways, I can't imagine a world without you guys! Much love, and a very Happy Crimble to you all.

      @austin: one time i saw david carradine buying a watermelon in a ralphs in the valley. AND CINEFAMILY IS BETTER THAN THAT.

    17. Austin sipes on December 23, 2012

      The Cinefamily is hands-down my favorite single thing about Los Angeles. More better than the weather, more better than the chicks in bikinis roller-skating down the boardwalk, and more better than the movie stars at the grocery store.

      @tom, @marie YOU ARE SO KIND!!

      I just bumped up my donation. Wish I could afford more. This is going to be a tough goal to meet, but you guys deserve every penny.

    20. Marie Shelley on December 21, 2012

      Yea Cinefamily Supporters!
      Now is an excellent time to up your donation to reap the seat naming reward. How exciting will it be when the new super comfortable seats are in and every one has a plaque? Put your own name on or pay tribute to someone (or both). This will be a great gift to give or receive. Right now there are 47 backers for this. My challenge is to get to 100 by Christmas and I will donate an additional $250. Join me in this challenge and spread the word. #cinfamilyseatnames

      We all love Cinefamily and thank you for the incomparable programing throughout the years. Let's work hard together to meet the fundraising goal and keep the best theatre in Los Angeles going forever!

      I posted the following on my Facebook profile when the campaign began. Here's hoping that more people out here in the Midwest heed the call. For the time being, you have my pledge. Long Live the Cinefamily!

      Hey ya mugs! I almost never post direct appeals for support, but here's a more than worthy exception. I can safely say that if there exists one undeniable factor that might force me to relocate to Los Angeles...aside from the beach...and the sun...and my budding career as a David Lee Roth impersonator....aside from ALL of that, it would be The Cinefamily. Even though I've only attended a handful of shows at the theater, it feels like a second home and the embodiment of everything I love about cinema, the greater art world and the very concept of family itself.

      Places like this are part of the grand thread of our cultural heritage, and the threat of endangerment to it should serve as a clarion call for anyone who has ever experienced the Proustian rush of the scent of freshly popped corn, the transcendent power of a life changing film, or just the small pleasure of being transported from their daily lives by a night at the movies.

      Oh, and their cupcakes (from Crumbs Bake Shop) are really that damn good.

    32. The Cinefamily Creator on December 11, 2012

      @lord zool: zooooooooool

    33. The Cinefamily Creator on December 11, 2012

      @Amy -- oh no, I'm so sorry! We put Jan because Kickstarter wouldn't let us put December 2012 because it already is Dec 2012.

      Not putting the date and time on the reward was just my own bad doing it fast and doing a zillion things. I'm incredibly sorry of course that was misleading :(

      We wanted to put reserved seating on there as rewards and we were cool with going by the honor system about them even though the Telethon is prior to the end of the Kickstarter... We took down the ones we could.

      I think you can cancel the donation right, if not pm me and I will help you any way i can?

      thank you for your support,

      director of development and outreach

      I recently pledged for a seat for Midnight Madness. When I pledged this, the lineup was created but the date and time was not announced. The estimated date of "delivery" on the page said "January 2013", which I assumed to be sometime in January of next year (the DVD perks were said to be delivered in February 2013).

      I find out today, 5 days before the weekend, that the whole lineup is playing THIS weekend. Not in January 2013. This is extremely last minute, and was not made explicit on the page when I pledged. I feel like I've been misled. Due to previous engagements, I am actually not able to attend this weekend--I feel like this could have been better broadcast on the Kickstarter page, that the actual shows would be in December, not in January.

      I am unhappy that I am not able to attend, as I was genuinely looking forward to the event and the chance to pledge for such a great theater. In fact, this project hasn't even been fully funded yet, but the lineup is still happening this weekend. It feels to me that things are very incomplete yet the project is going forward.

    35. lord zool on December 6, 2012

      I have to say this is hands down the best theatre in america!!! It's also just fraking great awesome people running it and awesome people who attend it. One of my many favorite cinefamily moments was my first time going there (you will not understand unless you have at least seen the trailer for this amazing horror film is shocking audiences everywhere). It was the first showing of Shakma about half way through the film one drunk attendee was being fairly loud so a second awesome attendee tapped him on the the shoulder and said "sssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhakma" causing everyone one in the theater to break out in insane laughter and both attendees to shake hands and laugh. I have been in many other theaters with similar situations that end with someone getting punched or attacked. Cinefamily holds within it's walls a sacred place for films and film lovers it has a special vibe that no other theater has and a special audience that no single theater has. Basically I love cinefamily and that story is mine it might not be entertaining to you but every time I think of that I break out laughing just as hard as I did that night. I now live up in san fran but I still drive down for events because its the best damn theater in 'merica FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!

    36. The Cinefamily Creator on December 5, 2012

      @matthew: Thank you so much! One of us gave to the Brattle in Cambridge a couple years back when they needed it, so, its a big happy family. Look for a seat named after "Albert Weiss"
      @dan: Thanks, Papi! (Dan's one of our co-founders, everyone!)
      @Wrong Man: You're so right.
      @Luis: We hear you -- most of us sit on the floor. But, we couldn't justify putting it above projection, sound and security... HOPEFULLY we make our initial goal quickish, then we will put up a bunch more rewards allowing you to sponsor couches, rows, individual seats -- and get your name on them like my granddad's at the Brattle.

    37. Luis Mendoza on December 5, 2012

      Backed! Is there a reason why seats are such a low priority? After an hour it ruins the experience of being at the theater because of the discomfort. Other than that, best of luck!

    43. The Cinefamily Creator on December 4, 2012

      @BadBillyPratt :) We have to overfund the project past $144,000 to $209,000 to be able to afford the seats... The onstage urinal - eh, we can keep making do with the gatorade bottle.
