$1 Million Dollars on Kickstarter!
We'd like to thank the incredible Kickstarter community for helping us hit $1 million in pledges today. That's twice our original Kickstarter goal and it brings the combined campaign total very close to $3 million! It's incredible and humbling and we promise we're going to put that money to good use, building the game you're dreaming about.
The big news at the million dollar mark is that the largest playable ship is now the Idris-class corvette, a powerful capital ship that you can crew with your friends. We'll release more information about this warship in the coming weeks. In addition, all pledgers will get an extra 500 credits in the finished game to celebrate. Let the good times roll!
Our next Kickstarter goal is $1.25 million, where we'll be able to build hidden smuggler asteroids. Remember the rumors of a secret asteroid cache in Privateer that no one could find? Well, Star Citizen will have real ones for you to discover!
We'd also like to take this moment to show off the first of the "Citizen Cards" you've been pledging for. This is the Scout-level "white" card which everyone purchasing will receive Note that this is just the digital mock up we'll show you the finished cards when they're printed... and, of course, yours will be personalized with your name!
And the best news is there's still 10 days left in the campaign. So keep spreading the news about Star Citizen so we can add more playable ships, more star systems and more exciting features to the game. And a sincere thanks to EVERYONE who has pledged!

Hidden Smuggler Asteroids :D

Love it !

! I really like the center of the card, but the background is a bit stereotypical. But maybe when printed it will look a lot cooler. I faux transparent effect (on paper-is it possible?!) would be awesome.
Sina Mashek on November 8, 2012
@Todd McMurtry I would love to see that as my credit card as well! Haha.
@David How Having it as an authenticator would totally boost it's awesomeness too.
David How on November 8, 2012
Like the idea of the citizen card being an authenticator. At the pledge level I'm at I feel it would be worthwhile (Rear Admiral)

@Felix
Are you talking about the Kickstarted and RSI sites?
If so they are already combined, the number shown on the RSI site are the Kickstarter + RSI total number.
We should be hitting 3 mill in the next day or two I think.

I really hope we reach $3.5 million. Bobbleheads in the cockpit sound just so darn cool. Especially if they follow the flight physics model.
Todd McMurtrey on November 8, 2012
The white cards look awesome! I hope the other colors of cards look as nice. I also upped my bid from the $30 to $40 level so mine can say mercenary. Also, I'd love to get this as the background on my credit-card, if your designer ever wants to make a more credit-card friendly template.
TheRealCuran on November 8, 2012
@Levon: not sure that's a good idea, sounds like a hardware dongle (ie. DRM). But if it's just an option, not mandator, I'm fine with it. ;-)
Oh, and we need a "mission accomplished" besides the 1M USD mark on the stretch goal image. ;-)
Now to get to those 3 million USDs... According to http://dev.carbon-project.org/misc/starcitizen.html we're just 18k USD away.
Thinkpadius on November 8, 2012
At the $1.25 Million mark, will players be able to *own* a smuggler asteroid as a base? I know this is getting overboard, but owning a place to stash your ships would be awesome.
Darkk on November 8, 2012
Good job @ll :-) I still think that we need tighter stretchgoals. Maybe every 100k€? That might speed up the funding.

Hope Chris Roberts will do a personal survey what name you want on the card, and not just use your pledge name.
Endothermic on November 8, 2012
Hmm interesting idea Levon, only problem with a smart card is you would then need a reader for it which some people may not want another USB item on their PC.
So perhaps instead offer an add-on like the WoW Authenticator (and other games with similar devices). A Citizen card equal to your pledge level but with an LCD where those numbers are that has the changing authentication code.
Downside would be the card would be some what thicker to accommodate the electronics so may not fit in you wallet, if you were inclined to put it in your wallet.
Could be a nice increase to the pledge total since I think a lot of people would get one for a reasonable price.

Id love it to be my credit card!
otherwise cool design
Levon Leastman on November 8, 2012
Really a shame that its not a smart card. Imagine having it used for secure login to the Star Citizen server. It would look great right next to my Admin and CAC cards.
SpaceVoyager on November 8, 2012
I hope these hidden asteroids and whatnot are in the single player game (, too). A lot of people are starting to look at this game as an MMO, which is not what I am in for...
Gilbert Palau on November 8, 2012
Congratulations on the Mill... The cards look great, I hope they are ready soon, I would like to have my brag card handy... =)
Felix on November 8, 2012
Will the two sites be combined to find what total level of stretch goals we get?
SMH on November 8, 2012
I have the same silly concern as Antony below. The white card looks really awesome. Can the higher tiers look as sleek? :-/
Mushroom C1oud on November 8, 2012
Wonder if they still plan on making them metal and if they found an alloy to use yet?
Clay on November 8, 2012
I was wondering if the number was our pledge sequence. Then I remembered all the issues with the backup site and I'm not sure the date/times can be merged. If so, it would be cool to know that you are Founder #2934!
Ron Au on November 8, 2012
All of you pat yourselves on the back :)
Soon™ on November 8, 2012
@Chawanat: It's 4 digits. Could be your backer serial number. There's also your name on it from the look of it. Who knows? might be just random number. :D
Carl on November 8, 2012
Jean Mertz, Chris has said all of it will be done, it will just take more time.
Carl on November 8, 2012
Good design guys, can't wait to see what the others look like!
MasterWandu on November 8, 2012
Hmmm... I'm wondering if my Bronze Card (Wingnut package) is going to look better than the white one? The white one looks pretty awesome, and picturing "bronze" in my mind is not providing me with an inspirational image...
Jean Mertz on November 8, 2012
Great news guys! I must say I am still a bit worried about the final result. I know we've already achieved a finished game and some extras, but those 4 and 5 million goal extra's look really awesome, but somewhat impossible to get to at the moment.
I hope that doesn't mean those things are off the table for good, even if the goal isn't reached.
BobbyDylan on November 8, 2012
@Chawanat: Probably ID / Social security numbers.
Mikko Hekanaho on November 8, 2012
The card looks really good. Good work. :D

If only we can reach the Bengal Class Carrier stretch goal; crewing a space leviathan as a guild sounds epic.

What do the numbers on the card mean?
