It's been a few months again since I've last updated everyone. Unfortunately I've come to realise I can't avoid all crashes with my health. As the weather has changed and become both erratic and extremely hot, I've been struggling to do anything for a while.
Thankfully, with the help of my wonderful and amazingly supportive husband, I have managed to progress at least slightly further with the book and have begun putting the pages together.
I think we can expect it to be ready to go out for printing in the next few months.
There is information I need to gather from you soon that will allow me to finalise the book. As a result, you can expect to receive a survey in the next month that will be asking about things like who's name you'd like to appear on the thank you's on social media, the website and in the book (depending on the level you've backed at), postage and email addresses so I can send out the rest of the rewards as they become available, and (for those of you who get to) the opportunity for you to vote on a cover for the book.
In the meantime, here's a sneak peak of where we are currently at (just a few random pages from the book... apologies for the dodgy photos, I'll share proper pages next time once I've learnt how to) :
That's all for now.
I'd love to hear from you about how you're going at the moment! Reply to this email or comment on the post to let me know.
Until next time,
As promised in my earlier update, below is the article I was interviewed for this morning:
Last update (I know, it's been a while!) I let you know that I was getting help with the pictures and that we could expect a delay in completion of the project.
Since then I've worked closely with Jimmy Anstie (our illustrator) and my husband to get the illustrations that much closer to completion.
Thank you so much Jimmy and Erik for all you're doing to help get this book completed.
Today I want to share with you a few of the illustrations (at various stages of completion) and let you know that I've been interviewed for ABC Online and that the article should be live today or tomorrow. - I will post a link when it's published.
Without further ado, here are some of the illustrations...
A selection of sketches from Jimmy
A few that Erik has completed computer outlines
As you can see above, we're still playing around with colours a bit but we're on track now to have the illustrations done within the next few months.
My goal is still to have the book completed and published by the end of this year. I was hoping to have it out for Invisible Illness Awareness Week at the end of September (28 Sept - 4 Oct) but that is not looking realistic. Even if it is not quite ready for publication by then I will still take the opportunity to spread the word further and share our story with the wider community.
Thank you so much for your support and patience as we work through this process.
