Discover Chronica: Age of Exploration
Chronica is a hybrid setting of fantasy and real world history, the result of fantastic creatures and magic bleeding into our world. Age of Exploration, the first publication in the Chronica series, takes place in a world similar to our 16th and 17th centuries with many of that period's wars and discoveries. The setting introduces options for players, as well as a conflict rich world for GMs to build upon. It is inspired by our own history- both our villains and our heroes. Chroncica: age of Exploration is designed to be Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Compatible.
Familiar Ground: The Earth that we know is similar to the world of Chronica: Age of Exploration. Several civilizations and religions that never coexisted in our world prolong their relevance with mastery over magic, technology, and abnormal lifespans. Magic, science, and the adventuring industry has pushed most monsters to the brink of extinction; survivors have fled to the darkest corners of the globe.
Historic Injustice: Human decency has not always been a priority in our world. To forget this would glorify the cruelty and bloodshed that brought us to this moment in time. Chronica: Age of Exploration gives characters a chance to explore both heroic and villainous roles through a filter of fantasy in a timeline altered by magic and extreme longevity.
Piety and morality: The rise of shamanistic and monotheistic traditions introduce solitary gods and limitless spirits. With all-encompassing profiles, these new religions can be followed by a person of any alignment. Other pantheons are more traditional, and include many of history's oldest religions.
New mechanics: Regions play a large role how players will interact with the rest of the world. Unique player options are available depending on the region each character is from. Chroncia: Age of Exploration includes new feats, prestige classes, regional favored class bonus, races, and more.

How to add an Add-On, Upgrade or Download to your existing Kickstarter pledge
• You must first have a minimum pledge level of $1 to select Add-Ons and Upgrades.
• All Add-Ons and Upgrades are in USD.
• On the Chronica: Age of Exploration Kickstarter page, click "Manage Your Pledge." This option is only available if you have already backed this project.
• Increase your pledge in "Pledge Amount" by the total cost of the add-ons, upgrades, and downloads you'd like. Some pledge tiers include shipping on add-ons, so remember to check so you don't overpay.

SPECIAL STRETCH GOAL "Factions of Chronica: Age of Exploration"(LOCKED): If this project reaches 100% funding and there are 20 or more community made factions from the Private Adventuring Guild and Mercenary Company pledge levels combined, I will create a book that will list only community created factions and expand on them with faction exclusive, feats, traits, favored class bonuses, and expanded faction lore
These factions will still appear in the core book, but the above content will be limited to Factions of Chronica: AoE. All backers will receive a PDF copy and have their names listed in the credits. Backers of the Private Adventuring Guild and Mercenary Company reward tiers will be consulted for their mechanics and lore.
$5,800 Stat Cards/Region Dice (UNLOCKED): At this funding level, all backers of will receive a PDF print-and-play copy cards for all items, spells, and feats from this setting, including those introduced in other stretch goals. Additionally, all reward tiers and add-ons that include dice become customizable with your choice of stock region. The flag for that region will replace the Chronica "C," and the color will change to something thematically appropriate.
$7,000 Player's Guide (LOCKED): At this funding level, I will create a book that expands on Chronica's player options. All backers will receive a PDF copy and have their names listed in the credits. The Player's Guide will include stock faction feats, alternate core class features, the Ambassador core class, a favor system for manipulating the political field, and simplified rules for player held lands and titles
$8,000 Gazetteer Level 1 (LOCKED): At this funding level, I will create two gazetteers that expand on The British Empire and the Sovereign Nation of Atlantis regions each. All backers have their names listed in the credits. Backers of Tales reward tier or higher and will receive a PDF copy of one gazetteer of their choice. Additional gazetteers will be made available in the "Upgrades and Downloads" section. These books will include expanded regional content, a new Prestige Class (for all but Spain, France, Olmec and British; these regions already have a dedicated classes in the primary book,) a regional trait available to only characters from that region, and a map detailing important places in that region.
$9,600 More Artwork and Great India Region (LOCKED): At this funding level, the amount and quality of art in the book will increase and I will add the Great India region to Chronica: Age of Exploration.
Beyond: Expect to see additional stretch goals as this project grows!
This is just the first of many publications under the Chronica banner. History is so extensive and interesting that I couldn't possibly run out of inspiration. My dream is to move forward with the community, using your experiences to mold each chapter and era. The next setting will be a different stage, but it will be impacted by what happened in your game shops and dens. If a majority of games saw a counter-invasion by the people of the New World, expect to see content that reflects such an effort. If this player-base plays mostly evil or monster sympathetic campaigns, the Obsidian Council will bring civilization to it's knees as darkness takes the world once more.
Risks and challenges
Risk: Shipping and Fees
As with many Kickstarter projects, a very real challenge is accurately calculating Kickstarter fees and shipping. Fortunately, this project is being fulfilled by DriveThru RPG, so the shipping is very easily calculated. We have the benefit of being able to use media mail for shipping on the books, a low cost mailing option intended to help move books around. For the other items, media mail isn't an option so they'll have to be manually shipped. Their weight and the cost of each envelope is covered in the Shipping Add-On, as well as the reward tiers that include those items. Kickstarter fees are easily calculated by increasing the total goal by the fee amount.
Risk: Long Production Time
As the complexity of the project increases, so will the time to complete it. The non-book rewards will take time to pack, longer if this project is highly successful. If we hit our stretch goals, I'll have some more writing to do. Collaboration will be a challenge; any community created content will need to be approved and edited. In all of these cases, additional help will trim the production time down, a cost that has already been considered in stretch goals. While I do not plan on missing our delivery estimate, I feel it would be foolish to not be prepared for such a circumstance. If the complete rewards cannot delivered on time for any reason, text-only playable versions of rewards will be released so that gaming schedules are not affected. Complete versions will then be delivered as soon as possible.
Risk: Dice Limit
Another limiting factor here is the dice manufacturer. The amount of dice that can be made is around 1500 units per month. Considering when the project is scheduled for delivery, I don't foresee any problems delivering dice on time. If for some reason this project's need for dice exceeds 12000 pieces, some backer's dice, and only their dice, may arrive late.
