Welcome to the Kickstarter for the complete series of Tokyo Demons (Books 1-3 + Short Stories + Audio Version)!
From the moment she was born, Ayase Watanabe could turn her body into a swarm of stinging insects. Jo Oda grew up in Japan’s foster system, picking pockets as he was bounced from home to home. Strangers to each other, they're pulled into a botched drug deal that sets off a chain reaction, dragging them into an underground power struggle between some of the most dangerous - and supernatural - powers in the city. And Ayase’s strange ability becomes the weapon that changes everything.
A character-driven urban fantasy with a massive cast and A Lot Of Feelings, Tokyo Demons is an Older Teen thriller about love, drugs, and bees.
"Even considering all of the superhuman elements and psychic abilities involved in Tokyo Demons, what make the series so compelling and engaging are its believably flawed, exceptionally nuanced, and constantly evolving characters and the constantly shifting dynamics of their relationships." Ash Brown, Experiments in Manga
Written and illustrated in the style of a Japanese light novel (prose with illustrations), Tokyo Demons was serialized online over five years of intense cliffhangers, emotional mayhem, and characters punching each other and/or making out. After receiving multiple reports of readers binge-reading until they fell ill, this series comes with a warning: read responsibly, because it's addictive as hell.
There's also a dramatized audio book version of Book 1, with 30+ voiced characters, sound effects, and music. For when you want these kids literally screaming in your ears.
The sequel series, Tokyo Ghosts, has already begun with some short stories and added sex.

Creative team: Lianne Sentar (writer), Rem (illustrator), Rebecca Scoble (editor and audio book), Romy-chan (supplementary illustrations), Tacto (short comic in Know What You Want), Angeline Mauri (Tokyo Ghosts supplementary illustrations).
After the series ended in Sparkler Monthly magazine this year, we wanted to produce a paperback edition of the final Book 3, as well as a revised paperback of Book 1 - originally published in 2012 - to match the Sparkler editions of Book 2 and beyond.
In addition to Books 1 - 3, this series has a volume of mature side stories: Know What You Want, which dives into the strained sexual tension that was too hot to explore in the main books. It also contains Tokyo Demon's first comic by guest artist Tacto.
You can pledge for any of the books in the series through this Kickstarter, so fans both new and old can nosedive into the horrible lives of these teenagers whenever they want!
And if we hit our Stretch Goals, we can produce additional merchandise requested by the fans - starting with a special "pairing" keychain voted on by readers - and even add new material to the paperbacks. We've got some surprises in store, so stay tuned as this Kickstarter progresses...
The majority of the funds will go toward printing the books and shipping them around the globe, as well as printing up the other rewards. Sparkler Monthly, the digital magazine that currently publishes Tokyo Demons/Tokyo Ghosts, will be running this Kickstarter and ensuring that all rewards are prepared and shipped.
Be sure to check back here for updates as the Kickstarter progresses!
Risks and challenges
We at Sparkler Monthly/Chromatic Press have run seven successful publishing Kickstarters in the past, and Lianne has managed more as a freelancer for Hiveworks Comics.
