Welcome to the Kickstarter for the paperback of Magical How? Volume 1!
Gabe and Booker are just two normal college guys, sharing an apartment and failing spectacularly at love. But one day, a talking golf ball named Hal lands in their lives and offers them magical powers...and despite it being a terrible idea, Gabe signs up immediately! Now he must don the admittedly flattering dress of a Magical and fight for love and justice, while Booker, blinded by the sparkles, wants nothing to do with any of this.
For fans of Cute High Earth Defense Club Love and Magical Girls-Slash-Dudes, this snarky comedy will blow a little magic up your skirt. Recommended for Older Teens due to delightfully foul language and general lewdness.
Written and illustrated by Eurika Yusin Gho (eyugho), Magical How? is a full-color comic currently being serialized in the digital fiction magazine Sparkler Monthly. The characters in this Magical Girl/Boys' Love Comedy are as endearing as they are hilarious—as evidenced by all the site comments from screaming readers!
Read this series online right now at sparklermonthly.com!
So far, Magical How? has only been published in digital format. Now that all of Volume 1 has been serialized in Sparkler Monthly, we want to produce a full-color paperback edition!
The book will include Chapters 1-4 of the comic, and the bonus short story about Gabe learning more about his roommate:
You can pledge for the Volume 1 paperback through this Kickstarter, plus some sweet merchandise! Charms and sparkly mini prints, anyone?
And last but not least, a special, limited edition, mature doujinshi (mini comic) will be available at the $60 level and up! This Cherry Bomb story by eyugho will only be available in its print edition for this Kickstarter, and will feature Booker and his...overactive imagination.
(We can only do this smutty side story if the Kickstarter succeeds. HELP US GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT, FANDOM.)
The majority of the funds will go toward printing the book and shipping copies around the globe, as well as printing up the other rewards.
The Sparkler editors will be running this Kickstarter and ensuring that all rewards are prepared and shipped.
If we hit our Stretch Goals, we can do even more--make the book fancier, add bonus material, and even do special bonus merch! We've got some surprises in store, so stay tuned to this section as the Kickstarter progresses.
Even the human version of Hal is shocked at the cool stuff we could do...
Risks and challenges
We at Sparkler Monthly/Chromatic Press have run eight successful publishing Kickstarters in the past, and Lianne has managed more as a freelancer for Hiveworks Comics. Our reliable, enthusiastic staff has basically stayed the same for the last year. There are always risks when you're a small operation, but we're all ready to do this!
(If a backer is concerned at any point and isn't satisfied with updates here or at sparklermonthly.com, our editors can be contacted directly at editorial@chromaticpress.com.)
