My name is Chris Stringer, and I'm a singer-songwriter from South Wales, residing in London.
The story of the Sinking Ships EP began around 2013, 6 years after my first release, Frontroom. It started out as an album under the name "Things I Wish I'd Learned", then becoming an EP. I tracked vocals and guitar on 4 songs, but with my move to London, and changes of circumstance, this project became lost to time.
Flash forward to 2019, and with two radio silence tours with Anthony LaLota, the addition of the band, The Rocketeers, and release of a live album Stringer Things on US label Crotalus Records, it felt time to finish what was started way back in 2013. This is where you come in.
This year, we want to make a record. But we need your help. The live music scene is caught in a hypocritical whirlwind of "More live music!" and "Pay? what pay?", and it's harder and harder to make it financially viable when you all work normal jobs - and rent in London.
The EP will be 4-5 tracks, and will encapsulate the fuller sound and feel of the band, whilst retaining the sound I've been developing over the last 15 years with my live shows. The band have worked incredibly hard to make sure 'we' still sound like 'me', while making sure we also sound like 'us', and I'm so proud of the music we're making now.
We've tried to make our pledge options standard, realistic and we hope to offer something that could feel really special. But ultimately, we are putting in what we can to make it happen - we just need a little bit of help from our friends to get it over the line.
Our plan is to record over the summer, for an autumn/winter release. The ballpark release date is November, but we're aiming to release before then.
Dependent on how the campaign goes, we want to try and record more than we need - with hopes to extend into a second release. All pledges will be taken into account should this happen - we really want you to know that we will do as much as we possibly can with the help that we receive, and reward that as best we can.
For the higher-tier pledges, we will have to work within our realistic means - which is why we can only really offer UK based live performances. The Skype/home shows will be as great and as full a show experience as I/we could possibly make it.
Thank you so much for reading - I really hope we can make this work together.

Risks and challenges
The main risk we will come across is funding. Aside from that, it's just getting everything ready and making sure we all book time together to get everything done. We've discussed this and earmarked some good times already where we're all free, so that we can get it done. We've also discussed what can be done out-of-studio, so that we can work through it if there is some reason we can't have as much studio time as we like and make sure it gets done. We've talked about what needs prioritising in-studio to make the most of our time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
