Another Unreleased Film -- The Door
A door is a barrier, a line, and a moment of rupture in time. Doors designate indoor and outdoor, they subdivide interiors within interiors - they are marks in space.
In screenplays, where there is an EXT. or INT. in a shot heading, somewhere, even if it isn’t on the page or does not wind up on the screen in the final film, there is a door.
In Goblin, there are many similar doors that characters pass through. Some of these doors are physical, some of them are ones of consciousness, and some of them are to other realities.
In keeping with this thematic idea, Chris Lange is today releasing The Door, a short film shot over a number of years and seasons. With its floating imagery of experimentation and celluloid chimeras of paint, the film is itself a door.
Goblin will be a door too, although its door will be one that is much, much darker.
