Think TERMINATOR, NACHO LIBRE, JACKIE CHAN and THE OFFICE all rolled into 90 minutes of fun!
I'ts a comedy-action-cyber-kung-fu-all-out-fun film like no other!
TOUGH GUY is about a Computer Nerd who keeps getting beat up by this mysterious Tough Guy. With the help of a new friend and a fellow nerdette, he learns to fight back. But once the mystery of who this stronger than life Tough Guy is and why he is messing with him starts to unravel, he realizes there is more than one guy after him and our Nerd is not just saving himself, but the whole world! There's a conspiracy that will rid the world of anyone who works well with technology. Who is behind this? Could technology itself be fighting back?
Like I said in the video, this is a project I have wanted to do since around 1999/2000. I was a teen ready to be the next Jackie Chan! So, I made my first "longer than 5 minutes" movie and it was a hit with all my friends and anyone who saw it. So, since then I have wanted to do the sequel. Now, 12 years of it brewing in my mind and technology caught up with my ideas, I am ready to make it. But I am going merge the first movie into the screenplay of the sequel and make it into one solid film. TOUGH GUY
I have a few friends and friends of friends who have some gear and others who are willing to help out for free....AKA my wife, best friend and mom.
Thankfully that cut down a lot of the cost. Plus, when I wrote the script I was going to do it with 5 friends, one camera and a lot of hard work. So, the script doesn't have too many million dollar explosions. By "too many" I mean none. But throw in a couple fight scenes, shoot outs, car stunts and good story telling techniques and you got your self a great action film. Good ol' Spielberg special effects.
So, that's what I plan to do.
About 1,000 will go to renting equipment. Cameras plus gear, sound gear, and lighting gear.
1,000 will be for costumes, props and make-up/hair.
1,000 go to paying my hired friends and new friends who will be my awesome crew.
500 for food for the crew.
500 for post-production work. I do this sort of stuff for a living so thankfully I have a lot of gear already.
1,000 for gas, more food, your rewards and any other unexpected things that pop up.
I have a lot of experience in the "make something awesome for no money" techniques. Iv'e never had more than a few hundred to do so, so this is going to be great! As the aliens in Toy Story say, I ".... am eternally grateful."
